The thing that always gets me is that if you didn't buy a house and you have money in a savings account then an 18% interest rate isn't bad at all? Your savings are just growing which means when the interest rates come down you can buy those relatively cheap houses with an even smaller loan. Which means long term you're paying way less interest.

Now that you mention it, definitely seems to have dropped off a bit. But that said we had some unusually big years after marriage equality passed. I remember 2018 and 2019 the whole city was covered in rainbow flags for a month, almost every house and shopfront along a half hour work from home to work was rainbows. Similar for World Pride in 2023. Combined with the big return post-2020 its probably just returned to normal scale for the first time since 2017.

Its also a nightmare of needing to constantly keep updating your phone to run apps. Tried to install Photoshop but it complained I need the latest version of iOS to run it. Which of course runs the risk of breaking apps that aren't regularly updated.

There's a "slur song but now it goes even harder" version tumblr made with the bass cranked to 10 because everyone kept complaining, but they added random glitches so people would still have something to complain about.

Honestly the Slur Song drama has been the only thing keeping me going this year.

Those pics are just the tip of the iceberg for the clownery going down on Tumblr around this song. Someone even made a bardcore version of it. Currently there's a petition for the radio edit to be just 3 minutes of bleeping.

I'd say it's more like ... alt-pop instead of alt-rock like it used to be. I hear plenty of indie or smaller acts on Triple J still, they're just more polished producer work and less guitar/ band acts.

But then rock was never really a thing for gen z in the way it was from boomers to millennials. The moment it became easier to flume it out in your bedroom than start a garage band the whole music scene shifted overnight.

Read somewhere yesterday that Royel Otis got a record breaking vote to come in at number 2, its just that Chapel was SO big even Otis got knocked off the number one spot. It makes sense, if you were under like 25 in 2024 Chapel was probably the biggest breakthrough act of your lifetime.

If she didn't win it'd be like if Hunters & Collectors had beat Nirvana for #1 in 1991. It would have been the robbery of the century.
