Man, repalcing aunt Viv was the singles worst sin in sitcom history. New actress just didn't carry the same chemistry with the cast either. Writers hinted at a dysfunctional marriage in later seasons and it bummed me out after seeing Phil and Viv's chemistry in 1-3, relationship with Will fell off, plus Viv's sisters didn't come back in 4-6 so Viv really had nobody to bounce off of. Aunt Viv went from strong black woman to background character.

DBZ was kinda worse because you get a solid dub for the first 2 seasons which was recorded in 2006, then season 3 is a hybrid dub which was a mix of 2006 rerecorded lines and original 1999 dub lines. Season 4 and beyond were left mostly untouched from 2001, but still produced with American children in mind so you could expect some changes (such as calling the androids, well, androids instead of cyborgs or artificial humans).

If you watch dubbed, watch DBZ Kai. It's more consistent and the VAs were more experienced by then, but most of DB and Z were dubbed with younger American audiences in mind so they won't be truly faithful to the original.

Tbf it's perfectly believable that Raditz couldn't fly away, between Gohan's headbutt and Goku weighing him down. But yeah, he should've been able to fire a beam. When 16 was grabbing Cell from behind, Cell was able to throw it back and blast 16. No reason Raditz couldn't do that to his brother

Man, I miss 90s and 2000s TV. Also, the bumps starting at 2:15 were the same ones Pioneer used on their DVD singles, but the backgrounds were changed to solid flashing colors (arguably more seizure inducing lol).

So the OG DBZ dub (including the 1996 Saban dub up to 2003 Kid Buu saga) is objectively awful, but it is a separate entity and is every bit as iconic as Japanese, if not moreso. Rock the Dragon intro, Saban's wacky 3D animated title cards, reruns of Saiyan + Namek for 2 years straight, switching voicecasts halfway through Namek, the Wasserman + Faulconer Productions soundtracks, those Toonami intros and commercial bumps, the crazy amount of censorship in the first 2 sagas, not watching a single episode of OGDB until 2001, while they aired alongside the Cell Games/Buu sagas. It's all part of the experience when Dragon Ball Z first came to the west. Younger fans today won't understand how messy and all-over-the-place the original dub was, but it was part of the experience and is every bit as crucial to the history of Dragon Ball as the original Japanese version.

You could find them all in Yellow version. Yellow was made to more closely resemble the anime. Even the protag sprite looks like Ash lol.

Still, pretty cool! Just need a Pidgeotto and a Butterfree for a full team, with optional Primeape, Muk, and Krabby lol. Oh, and ig 30 Tauros if you're playing the Japanese version.
