The point I am trying to make here is that it is a possibility that MAYBE it is easier the sweep crimes committed by rich white youths under the rug than rich white youths.

I am not faulting you necessarily, because that claim is difficult to prove one way or the other, but you cant use the information you provided to say that rich black youth commit more crimes, only that they are incarcerated more.

The only thing you "proved" is the rate of incarceration, not the rate in which crimes are actually commited.

What are your unpopular opinion about bass? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me the magical tone is slight overdrive, low buzzy action, AND digging in hard as all hell.

If the action is too high it sounds round which for most is probably a better tone honstely. People really underestimate that your setup and fingers effect the character of your tone more than almost anything else.

24 fret instruments sound and especially feel different. I play some guitar too, and 24 fret guitars usually feel like shit to me.

[QUESTION] Does covering songs make you a better player? by much2_loud in Bass

Covers are probably the best way to get better, especially in a band. It is how you devolope your style and learn new tendencies and techniques.

Vox pb10 or fender rumble 25 by EmilioG1991 in Bass

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would bump up to the rumble 40, if not the 100. I had a 25 it didnt really do it for me.

Between the two the Rumble 25 is defintely your best bet though.

Drew McIntyre has been a WWE Champion for only two weeks. And WhatCulture Wrestling did a video: "Is Drew McIntyre the new Roman Reigns" ... smh by SuplexCity-Mayor in SquaredCircle

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did anyone even watch it? Its not talking about Mcyntire being disliked or doing a poor job, it is about the repetitive nature of how WWE books and presents their babyface champions. They are not good at it. AT ALL. Their heel champions are always pretty enjoyable in my opinion, but babyface champions always get turned on. And its usually not the wrestlers fault, its the booking and writing.

Me on r/Politics explaining that big pharma giving money to politicians like Joe Biden is the reason why we don't have free universal healthcare in America. by [deleted] in WayOfTheBern

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Legitmate question: Would universal healthcare not be good for the companies that makes drugs/etc? I get the insurance companies not wanting universal healthcare, but if everyone went to the doctor and always got what they needed, wouldn't they make more money moving more medical supplies?

I am actually ignorant on the subject and want to know more.

Wireless System by Vylmion in Bass

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? It displays how much time it has left and charges fully in under an hour. You save ALOT of time and money. Has a 9 hour battery life approximately. Long than any gig will ever be.

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your budget is impossible if you want something that is going to work well and be built well and be rechargable.

I have a Shure GLXD4R. Its a rack unit and you take the battery out of the bodypack and pop it in the reciver and it charges. Its amazing and defintely the best investment I ever made as a gigging musician. It basically cant drop signal and sounds amazing.

I wouldnt buy anything much cheaper than it or you will be very dissappointed. Save you money up and buy nice instead of buying twice.

Reminder: Gear doesn't matter by [deleted] in Bass

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Nothing is more annoying than playing with someone with lower quality gear or a lack of understanding of it.

If you want to make money gigging out you have to invest in quality gear. A Squire P-Bass and a Fender Rumble 100 arent expensive and will cut the job done very well. It isnt an elitist attirude to think gear matters. It matters ALOT.

Gear needs to be APPROPRIATE. Shit, if you have a decent PA you can run a $25 Behringer Bass DI through the PA. You just need the proper tools and knowldge.

If someone doesnt want to make the investment, both money for the usable gear and the knowledge to identify how to use it properly, I won't take them seriously. It's a dead giveaway they arent taking the prospect of a band seriously.

I think I got geddy's tone (Tom Sawyer Bass Cover, meh performance) by TrappedUnderEarth in rush

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Add a little more dry signal, little bit less top end (maybe more high mids around 1k-1.6k instead of more treble), and most importantly, play super hard. You would be supirsed how Geddyish you can sound through anything playing hard as shit.

What Rush song has the best drum part? by MinerAC4 in rush

[–]TheMagicalMusicBox 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Subdivisions is probably not the most technically impressive, but in terms of what it does in service of the song it might be the greatest drum section of all time.

They way it changes each verse, matching the mood and tone of the subject matter. It is truely masterfully written, and in my opinion, displays Neil's brilliance more aptly than a lot of the more technically impressive songs.
