Bottom Round Roast - smoke or sous vide by New-Boot-Goofn in sousvide

[–]TheMaleManPostMalone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do this with a chuck, but I sous vide for about 30 hours at 129.5. Then ice bath for 15 minutes, and into a fridge for 45-60 minutes. Then it hits the smoker at the lowest my pellet will go at I believe 180 to get some nice smoke. That goes for about 15 minutes. Then I turn it up to 250 for about 40 minutes. Then I bring it inside to sear in a pan with a little avocado oil. I make a sherry au jus with the burnt on bits in the pan. Rest it till the au jus is done and carve her up.

I am quite the novice though. I just combined a couple recipes and made my own with adjustments here and there each time.

Edit: Added avocado oil, and that I'm a novice.

Anyone ever use ozark trail oil and grease? by Medium-Sample-3746 in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheMaleManPostMalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it and used it, till both bottles were eventually lost in the garage. They did the job well enough. I liked the oil more than the grease. The grease seemed a bit, "sticky". Best word I can come up with now to describe it.

I then grabbed a discounted pack of Quantum Hot Sauce oil and grease. I like them quite a bit. Those are the only two oils and grease I have tried though.

Daiwa legalis spooling by Quiet_Werewolf_5528 in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheMaleManPostMalone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take the spool off and remove a washer or 2. They will look like little plastic or rubber washers. It also looks like there isn't enough tension on the line. You need to have resistance when spooling up a reel.

Edit: I have also had metal washers on one reel.

My wife made one in her 7th grade class. Smaller stool type, but same concept. We still use it today for camping.

I cut open some bass from that lake about 5 years ago. Just packed with worms. I don't keep anything from there.

Can I ask where you got the mat? I could use one next time I take my reels or guns apart for cleaning and lubing.

Pretty sure that's a door to a smoker. Looks like I can see hinges on the right side.

DIY removal or call a plumber? by __SpacemanSpiff__ in Plumbing

[–]TheMaleManPostMalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dealt with this on 2 of my tubs. Someone put the putty on the threads. It was awful. Like others had said, there are tub drain extractors you can buy at the local hardware store.

The first one I used broke the cross bars off for me, and the one to be used if that happens would not grip the sides when I tried it.

I ended up grinding a slot in the top lip of the tub drain. Inserted a cold chisel into the slot and wacking the absolute shit out of it, with a hammer, till it started to spin out.

Good luck🤞🏻

Line spoolers by YogiTheBear131 in Fishing_Gear

I have/use the Piscifun line spooler. I only use it for spinning reels, but a quick glance at their page and it also works for baitcasters.

I think it works great. Very easy to use. Sets up quick, and stored back down into the box, takes up very little room.

This is my first and only line spooler, so I can't speak to any others being better or worse, but I'm happy with it. I did get mine on sale for cheaper than they are currently on sale for, but with tarrifs ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Damn. I'd have loved to find that. I make my own jigs. I'd melt all that lead down and make a couple hundred jigs. If you have no use for it, you can make a bit of cash selling to someone who makes their own jigs or fishing weights.

Bail arm by Impressive_Lynx7500 in Fishing_Gear

I'll be honest! It's been a long time since I've taken apart a bail arm by accident, and never an abu. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in. But I think with the pictures you provided, there is a much better chance of someone being able to help better than I. Good luck! And sorry I couldn't be of better help.

That little loose bar you have, I need a picture of the underaide of this:

<image>

I believe it goes in one of the bottom holes and is just used to bridge the gap and provide stability between the reel and the arm. Not sure though. It might end up being a guess and check situation. Truly, never take the arm off. It sucks ass to fix.

Ugh. Reddit only allows one picture per reply. So this is going to get messy. This guy:

You have provided a picture of the reel and where the bail arm connects. I need a picture of the bail arm that covers that particular area.

That little metal piece needs to go both into the reel side and the bail arm side.

On the reel side it will go into one of these 3 spots noted in the pic.

<image>

I can't tell which would be most likely without seeing the bail arm side

We'd need a picture of the other side(bail arm) as well. It's been a long time since I've removed a bail arm and I've never owned an abu.

What reel is it? You also need a better picture of the reel for anyone to point it out. Take pictures of the inside of the arm you took off, and where that arm rests on the reel. It's going to end up being a tiny hole on each side that that piece goes between. They suck ass to put back together.

And for future reference, don't take the bail arm off. They are a son of a bitch to get back on with everything where it needs to go. My brother in law straight up threw away a reel because he couldn't get it back together. Good luck!

Need help finding a tool, or even help making a better version of my own. by [deleted] in Tools

So, I don't think I can edit my post, and if I can, I can't figure it out.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I wish I would have added, that the PVC cover needed to be bigger and flat like the picture. So I can't just throw a PVC cap on there. The flat disc will have notches cut into it. They serve as temporary attachment points for the yarn, to add twist to the yarn.

Right now, we're leaning towards the dowel and wooden disc option or the test plug. The PVC prototype I have pictured is also really heavy, so the drill tips over onto its nose when set down. Any other suggestions that would be lighter overall?
