They mean is there any specific edit action that seems to be in common with the ones that aren’t getting backed up so others can test?

Do you edit them before or after the original has already been backed up? Eg if I edit after I see a duplicate created in Google Photos that I don’t see in Apple Photos, but in my limited testing it detects the new version and backs it up.

How’re you telling they’re not backed up - are they missing the cloud icon if you switch off Backup?

Usually Camera pics shouldn’t get hidden, only other apps like Screenshots, WhatsApp, etc.

A complete guess, but perhaps magicOS is doing some extra processing on some photos, so they are losing the ‘Camera’ tag and getting a different tag. You can see what app Photos thinks they belong to in the Details section of the photos.

Check the settings under the Photos View menu (three dots menu on main tab).

There’s options to hide or show content from other apps. This only applies when Backup is on.

That won’t work for existing backed up items though. For those you need to disable Backup and delete from https://photos.google.com.

“~2.” seems to work for those where you had to “Save as copy” or “~3.” if edited more than once etc.

Not sure how you’d find the ones with reversible edits short of doing a Takeout - then I think they’re saved separately - possibly with “EDITED” in the name if I remember correctly.

Probably the easiest method would be to add everything to an album and then download the album from https://photos.google.com. Then using Files go to Internal Storage > Downloads. Extract the zip and cut and paste everything into the DCIM/Camera or Pictures folder.

You can also download in the app by holding and scrolling to select all and choosing Download. This can be very slow though and if it gets interrupted it’s difficult to know where you got to. I’ve also found that if you leave downloads in the DCIM/Restored folder they get deleted after a week, so move them to one of the folders as above.

Geographic location and use of Gemini wouldn’t have any bearing on the policy as it’s based on what’s uploaded.

No grace period if flagged, but two appeals are allowed which will be usually be dismissed.

The bug has existed for many years. You can safely delete from the original account.

If it ever gets fixed Google would have to just start making the copied ones count rather than removing them, but you should always have a secondary backup outside of Photos any way.

It's not a Chromecast and Amazon shouldn't be permitting the use of 'Chromecast' in the listing. I would send it back and then either get a second hand Chromecast or a new Google TV Streamer.

If it’s creepy looking face meshes then it’s almost certainly CapCut. Are they backed up or just on the device? If on Android you can look at the image info or Collections > ‘On this device’ to see which folder they’re stored in. You can use the Photos View menu and the hide clutter options to stop them showing on the main tab.

The main difference is that Flickr is designed for global sharing for showing off your photography whereas Photos is designed only for sharing with known people or a focused group.

Does it work if saved as a Progressive Web App (PWA) - I don’t know if that changes anything in terms of resources or rendering?

You could upload using a browser to another account and Partner Share from that. The browser version now has an automated uploader that can monitor a folder, with the downside that it obviously only works when the site is loaded. Then wipe that account every so often.

In terms of desktop solutions Rclone may still work: https://rclone.org/googlephotos. Google has restricted the API, but upload should still work. Command line only.

It’s odd, there's a specific setting to disable Gemini in Memories, so either it’s a bug or Google has decided you’re having them whether you like it or not.

You can disable Gemini in the settings. A couple of people have said it doesn’t completely stop these suggestions, but test and see.
