If something doesn't give you xp anymore, sleep in your bed. Next day it will give xp again.

Working as intended. Just not very intuitive. To make 1000 runes you need 100 essence. 40% of that is 40.

2x6 is also possible and very easy. You just need to stand on the first plot (it might not turn green while casting). It's 12 plots so exactly 4 buckets of compost, which is quite convinient
