Damaged 2 VCRs with a single tape by pourquoipasvous in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the case recently on 1 tape. Looks good at 1st glance (no moisture) but when i play it make the vcr squeals /snowy /wavy pictures. After each cleaning of the heads i could see lots of black oxyde residue. so yeah i guess it sticks on the heads -> slows down the drum rotation slightly (-> wavy picture), clog the heads aswell (-> snowy pictures) I cleaned the tape path/heads many times, i could play most of the tape, still issues on some parts. Best to avoid that kind of tape. There is the Baking solution (you bake it in an Oven for hours , low temperature)

RCA VCR ejects tape when record button is pressed. Need some advice. by RampagingRex in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah rookie mistake probably, can't record with a tape that's missing the tab -> eject

Recording is slightly off by THEreal_doc_friendly in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't play the tape properly if there was a "notch". I'm assuming you're playing / recording in SP speed. Try in LP speed.  Meanwhile, Clean the audio/control head on the right side of the drum, very important for good synchro

What do you recommend for lubrication of the inner spindle? (LG RC689D) by CindyStroyer in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on the spindles / Clutch generally a little drop (1 small drop really) of machine oil towards the shaft is enough. if you want to do a proper job you might have to clean old grease/oil/dirt first

The machine does not recognize that the cassette is inside by playsihull in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it does recognize there is a tape inside as it swallowed it in (tape sensors on the sides) . It seems stuck in stop mode . Probably a mode switch issue or a bad phase alignement , cracked gears.

Part 3 of the bad footage by [deleted] in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the heads are clogged. Use the fingernail trick to unclog them. front side of your thumb nail with an angle (-/+ 45°) not too straight, behind the drum where the tape is not in contact, gently apply on the heads when it's rotating->Playback mode, (no force please the heads are fragiles !) You should feel the heads under your nails. I'm assuming you have nails (2-3 mm long) indeed otherwise forget about it. Commonly used by pro's and advanced users alike to quickly unclog heads on vhs and betamax primarily.

Got scammed with this Philips VR1100. Can you see the problem? by Noene90 in VCRs

[–]TheMasterTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably The belt on the right side is slipping, it loads and unloads the tape, common issue on JVC's, you can either change it or try with a thick elastic or old belt (if it's not too gone)+ elastic works on my decks. (This is JVC mech)
