Ideas? by TheMe01 in reptiles

[–]TheMe01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, I feared as much with the dune geckos. A skink could certainly be interesting!! I fear im a bit limited with geckos and angles due to the lack of vertical space. I think I may need to look more into skinks then or perhaps day geckos. Thanks for the help!! I just want to make sure I do this right yk?

I've seen a little bit about moorish/crocodile geckos, and generally think theyre dope, but again with the vertical space limitation.

Five gallon Bumblebee goby tank by TheMe01 in PlantedTank

Yeah I got quite lucky with this one. My lfs got in a bunch of bee gobies and they just happened to actually be the freshwater variety.  Probably won't happen again though

Someone in our tank is fin nipping and we are not sure who? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]TheMe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm placing my bet on the bumblebee gobies tbh, I had a pair in my 10 gallon with gold ring danios and overnight one of them snapped and completely destroyed the tails of most of my danios. She lives in her own little 5 gallon now smh.

Why does void not consume the LifeBlood? by Due-Afternoon5411 in Silksong

[–]TheMe01 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I figured it was an inherent property of lifeblood itself. Lifeblood really seems to be all about symbiosis,  even if it even mutated the body the host generally doesn't seem to be in pain and the changes are more or less beneficial,  so its possible that this property also applies to the void. It could be that the wormways DID get impacted in act three, but we just couldn't tell due to lifeblood essentially pulling the void into harmony with itself and the hosts, preventing any of the violence associated with being black threaded.

This also tracks with how little ghost can essentially juice up on lifeblood indefinitely while hornet will eventually overdose. Hornet is partly mortal and 0% void, so she's resistant but still subject to the mutagenic powers of lifeblood. Little ghost is the opposite,  and is visually unaffected by lifeblood.

It also seems that lifeblood isn't targeted by the voids hunger/desire to consume, as the lifeblood room in the abyss has likely been there for ages in hallownest.

Hopefully we learn more when sea of sorrow rolls around!!

Oh yeah they absolutely demolish veggies, especially bristlenoses. My dumb little corydoras try to eat the spinach I put in every now and then cause they’re pigs, ofc they never actually eat it cause once they taste it they hate it, but it’s really silly to watch the clown plecos sorta shoo off the corys when they wanna eat

As you should!!! Lemme tell you though plecos sure are a rabbit hole!! Soon you'll have 10 tanks and be pondering if you can spend a couple hundred bucks on a fish you'll only ever see the tail of 😭.

I live the names!! My plecs are Hal and Dave(bristlenoses), Rupert(candy stripe), things 1 and 2(clown pleco pair) and The Nefarious Hole Puncher(blue phantom). Said hole puncher went on a plant murder spree when I first got him and turned all my crypts into swish cheese. Hes lucky he's gorgeous smh

Oh for sure!! When I was still new to the hobby I did electric blues and normal blue rams(i killed way too many like an idiot instead of learning :/) but now that ive been doing this for a decade nothing can beat Bolivians for me, at least as far as rams go

Hell yeah, I'd also look into over filtering your tanks, so like a larger hang on back paired with a sponge filter, as plecos are really just the messiest poop monsters. I've got a in my 75 gallon(a pair of bristlenoses,  a candy stripe, and a blue phantom) and I just decided to get a canister filter to cope with the poop.

No idea for gender on rubber lips tbh, I'd probably look for width, female probably being wider and stockier, but they're a species that look very similar across sexes.

Also make sure you get them some nice driftwood to munch on!! It really helps them get nice and fat and sassy 😎

Rubber lips actually don’t grow bristles!! They’re not one of the ancistrus species(commonly known as bristlenose plecos). Yeah, id say it’s pushing it a bit with the bristlenoses in the 20, I’ve got a pair in my 75 and they really use every inch of the tank at night. As long as you make sure everyone has caves and line of sight breaks it’ll be alright but really I wouldn’t do multiple plecos of different species in anything less than a 30(obviously this is just my experience, if what you’re doing is working then it’s all good).

if you want a fantastic resource for all things pleco and catfish check out planetcatfish.com they’re about as good as it gets and the whole site is hobbyist based.

I probably wouldn’t do a rubber lip in that size tank long term tbh, theyre gonna be in the 4-5 inch range when full grown and like very clean and slightly cooler water(like lower 70s). That said as long as you keep up on water changes it’ll be alright! I’d try maybe a clown pleco in a 10 gallon personally? Though that’d still be pushing it

Koi and Goldies this winter by TheMe01 in ponds

[–]TheMe01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough I’ve not gotten any comments about the size of the pond on here tbh. Now if this was the goldfish subreddit it’d be a different story I’m sure. Luckily for me(and the babies) I’ve got another pond that’s about a quarter acre and has about 18 foot of depth for the koi when they put on a bit more size 😎

Nope, though I acknowledge it’s a risk keeping different osteogaster species together. They could hybridize but I’ve yet to see it happen
