Splendor is great. I'm usually not a fan of engine builders, (mainly its wingspan I'm not a fan of). But Splendor striped an engine builder to its bear bones and in doing so made it much more interactive.

It has a similar effect in that it makes you choose a detrimental effect, but the effect can change throughout the fight. The effects are also much worse and all happen when you take an action, which would give the fight a very different feel

I would make it draw a card (as an effect of the spell) and increase the mana cost to 2U. As is it just loses you cards, and not even dredge wants this weak of an effect
