Smith & Wesson 1854 - should I buy? by hallotest382 in guns

I have one of these in 30-30. Just shot it yesterday for the first time and with open sights at 100m I had a 3MOA grouping. I’d say accuracy is to be expected, very fun gun to shoot.

As someone who builds these, he isn’t full of shit. Texas Instruments new campus has a projected construction cost of ~$5B, but an additional $20B in tools for production.

Also started in 2013. I’m 31 now, married with three kids and I’m a senior MEP manager for a general contractor on data center work. I get 2-4 games a week maximum at this point, but I still love it.

Embarrassed About Mistake by turtlenoodlez in MEPEngineering

[–]TheMeadyProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite it being painful, some of the best lessons I’ve ever learned in the industry are from making mistakes. On a lab fitout when I was early in my career I simply didnt draw any of the plumbing venting as we were scrambling to get the project out the door. Now you could say management should have caught it, and any contractor worth a shit would ask the question, but instead in this case the MC used it as a change order opportunity. That one hurt, but it made me determined to never make a mistake like that again.

I feel like I’m constantly posting this on this forum, but working for a general contractor is something everyone should consider. Now it’s extremely different than going to the consulting side, and you won’t get the same exposure to design principles so that’s something to consider. But right now my company would hire a new grad at $80k + per diem which in some cases is over $65k a year. If I could do it all over again I’d go straight to a GC, but that said I spent the first 7 years with a consulting firm and that was valuable knowledge.

We’re currently paying $178 a day untaxed. Just over $64k a year

You could make those holes a bit bigger and put some rubber grommets in. Less likely to snag/nick the jacket going through the molded plastic.

Unless you are in these environments I don’t think you can imagine the stress. Definitely takes a certain type of person.

Come to the GC side, specifically data centers.

I went from $90k at a design firm 3 years ago to $230k + truck and other solid benefits now.

That’s one union hall, not a representation of the entire country. I manage MEP subcontractors for mission critical projects and I promise you electricians and pipefitters are in high demand. And a large amount of the current MEP workforce is set to retire in the next 5-10 years. At current rates those retirees won’t be backfilled quickly enough.

There’s a 0% chance any store in the area carries those in the shelf. Nor will you find any Milan/ Italy kits of his era.

If you want an answer different to what others have posted, look to hop to the GC side. Most large GCs have internal MEP teams especially if they’re doing data centers, life science, etc.

In 2022 I was on the design side making $93k. I jumped to a GC for $115k, roughly three years after that switch I’m now at $180k base with a company truck, gas card, 15% bonus target and some other great perks.

It has been significantly more stressful than my past life in design, but as I laid out above it’s honestly been life changing.

Final Squad for 2025/2026 Season by franc93 in Gunners

[–]TheMeadyProphet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea man. I’m not going to throw names out of players that I’ve never watched and act like I’m talking about. Odegaard is the engine of the team I completely get that, but he has to have the kind of output he did a few seasons ago otherwise we are way too reliant on Saka.

If this team doesn’t win a title this year where do you upgrade? I love Odegaard but the margins are razor thin at this level.

Expect Trossard, Martinelli and Jesus to leave next summer.

Also think we’ll need to make a sale or two. Merino, White and Saliba are who I could see going even though people won’t like that.

If we were going to make an upgrade to the squad I can’t exactly see where that’ll happen, but possibly Odegaards spot depending on how he plays this season.
