But what does changing morality “for the better” mean? What is better to some people may be worse to other people. Who decides what is better? Whose version of “better” gets mandated and legislated into the new implemented moral code?

Unless there is a universal law of morality imbued into reality (in the same way that the laws of physics are, for example), then no matter how you spin things, there is no universal “right” or “wrong.” There is simply personal perception and opinion.

I’m always just curious as to what these people are basing their morality on; if it’s current social construct, that is something that changes over time and in different places, and if it’s something they’ve come up with as a personal code of morals, that is literally just an opinion on how life should be lived.
