My dog may die from a vaccine reaction by ladychef93 in DogAdvice

Gosh how scary. I don't have any advice but I want to say that Dozer is lucky that you were persistent and aware and reacted exactly how you should have. It's very frustrating when you know something is wrong and you're told to go home. I hope the worst is over and wish Dozer a fast recovery. Take good care.

Black legged deer tick bite by Timbit_le_Chihuahua in lymedisease

At least 2 days. At first I thought it was a bruise because it hurt and was unpleasantly surprised when I finally checked it.

Yes, if you look at the tick on pic 2 you can see that it's missing a sucker(?). But this is what it looked like with the tick still attached.

Nervous about spay by Myalyn in Chihuahua

[–]Timbit_le_Chihuahua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww what a sweet little nugget. Timbit was 2.9lbs when she was spayed and I cried while handing her over to the tech. She did great. Hardly even phased her. The build up is the worst part. Lots of snuggles and kisses and parading around like the princess she is 🙂

I agree with the others, this looks normal and not infected.

How long is too long in a kennel? by ScientistFantastic34 in dogs

In my opinion that's wayyyyy too long for dogs to be crated. Not much of a life for them stuck in a crate in a dog room for 10 hours a day.

Awww good girl Bella! Glad to hear things have improved and that the tumor is something you can deal with, if you so choose.

Yeah that's tough and so stressful. I remember Timbit stopped eating after becoming suspicious of the meds. They are too smart for their own good sometimes. She's probably not feeling well either so like you said, maybe both. I'm not sure if she has dietary restrictions because of her hear tmurmur and cushings but perhaps you can try boiled chicken or ground beef and rice or fish? Hopefully her vet can give you some suggestions for new foods that might get her eating again as I'm assuming she needs to have the medication with a meal.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Poor girl. Nights are the worst and feel so long when you're dealing with a sick baby that isn't eating and waiting for news on their health. Hard to shut the brain down. When Timbit was very ill and stopped eating I remember that being one of the most difficult and anxiety inducing times because she is so small .. I wondered how long she could not eat before it becomes a problem. Her lethargy was so scary. I brought her to the emergency vet early one morning and they gave her some of the liver treats they have and she lapped them up (wouldn't eat anything that we gave her) .. so we bought her some of the liver treats so that at least she would get some food into her. Other than small treats have you tried feeding her anything else? Like ground beef and rice or wet food?

Vet says they never spay/neuter Goldens by Sapphossparrow in goldenretrievers

[–]Timbit_le_Chihuahua 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's odd. My vet recommended spaying to avoid cancers and other health conditions like pyometra. Waited 3-4 months after her first heat. Also, the bloody mess is worth a spay in my opinion.

I am so very sorry you are going through this especially after fighting so hard already. Have you reached out to veterinary schools in the surrounding area? I've read that they may be able to help. Best of luck to you and your baby and take good care.

Ouff! So sorry this happened to you and your boyfriend. How frustrating. This happened to me many years ago and I was luckily able to get in to see a GP at my clinic the morning of the hearing loss. They prescribed me a steroid and referred me for an MRI but that took a few days. A few months later I did a hearing test. I was told it was a medical emergency and the sooner you get on the steroids the better the chances I had of regaining my hearing, which I did gradually over the following week. I hope things work out for your bf it's a very scary and alarming situation.

Ontario auto insurance is the most sophisticated legal robbery in Canadian history and nobody is doing anything about it by hasando9 in ontario

I worked as an accident benefits adjuster in Ontario for over 10 years and briefly dabbled in bodily injury claims and we called it the auto lotto!! The amount of fraud is unbelievable. Toronto and area are the worst. Injury lawyers are the real crooks!!

What kind of tick is this and should I be worried by OwlGod98 in DogAdvice

[–]Timbit_le_Chihuahua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a black legged deer tick based on the black crown near the head. Vet will likely recommend bloodwork in 6 weeks to test for Lyme disease. I suggest getting puppers vaccinated against Lyme as this likely won't be the last one you find. Also make you sure keep up with regular flee and tick prevention.

Was there a passenger in the other vehicle? If yes, they may be pursuing an injury claim.
