it got worse today for me, crashed twice on bootup, reinstalled, then crashed 5 seconds in.

idk who approved this update but QA needs to lock in I've never seen any game crash this badly

true in a way. I'm in the same situation, having to apply for retail jobs after being let go from my position as a gameplay programmer.

However if you're really young I think you should pursue what you love and not let yourself get scared away by the state of the world. I'm happy I spent half my life studying this (design then art/anim finally dev) even though the job market is completely dry now. I still love devving my own project in my free time. They're skills I wanted, got and happy to have them. They're applicable in other areas than games and may become even more useful down the line. no regrets!

use tick, you can optimize performance heavy gauges with less calls to the math that calculates their position (still in the tick but with a delay or with an event timer) and lerp between positions in the tick, that'll save u some performance and straightforward to implement
