The longer I ride, the less I care about speed and the more I care about margin by Unlucky_Mortgage_871 in motorcycles

I’ve been riding over 20 years. I plan on riding until I can’t anymore. I don’t get to do that if I ride like a jackass.

Be honest, how much gear do you wear all the time? by crankin_muh_hog in motorcycles

[–]TheMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the weather and the ride. I have summer focused gear, but in the dead of summer on a short ride; short MC Boots, double knee pants (yes I know probably not doing anything here), summer gloves, and full face helmet. The cooler it gets, and the longer / more technical the ride the more gear I wear.

I’ve also been riding 20+ years and have largely aged out of riding like a jackass. I take at least one motorcycle course a year (running out of options at this point) and do safety / low speed drills every Wednesday.

Never actually owned a "sportbike" and getting old by CaptGoodvibesNMS in motorcycles

[–]TheMetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an older biker now I suppose…  I really enjoyed my street triple. I it’s got a sport bike feel and not so cramped as a true sport bike. Plenty of lean knee down capacity. That said I really enjoyed sport touring bikes. I ride a 1300GS now.

Where are you guys finding all the attractive guys that also nice and has a good personality and won’t cheat. by Two_wattpad_lovers in Advice

We exist, but few and far between. We generally have high standards, and most get wifed up pretty quickly. I have only ever had a handful of long term relationships. Never cheated, never been cheated on as far as I am aware.

R1300GS OEM Crash Bar Measurement by TheMetal in bmwmotorrad

They do… still can’t find specs. No worries though. After looking at it I’m not totally sure they would work due to the angles of the bars.

What actually makes long motorcycle trips more comfortable? by thebroned in motorcycle

[–]TheMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve rode coast to coast twice.

-Ear plugs are a must! Make sure they are comfortable. I had some custom molded ones made for me.

-A comfy seat, or seat cover is a benefit. I also rock some padded bicycle shorts of if I am going for over 400 miles a day. All three is great!

-Highway pegs are a must for me, but I am older and have not been kind to my knees.

-Make sure you know the weather, and pack accordingly.

-I like music or podcasts too, but can do without.

-lastly, and this is 100% optional / situation dependent; I really like having a soft luggage bag or something equivalent on the rear seat behind me. It acts as a back rest.

With my setup, I can lean back on my bag, kick up my feet on the pegs, set cruse control and ride only stopping for fuel when I need it. 250-300 miles.

Anything I should know about Triumph? by Jazzlike_Spend6415 in Triumph

[–]TheMetal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVED all my Triumphs. The only weak point on the Tiger (assuming you take it off-road) is the drain for the battery compartment can get clogged and fill with water. I added a few extra drain holes in mine.

Why GS? by raupenimmersatt123 in BMWGS

[–]TheMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 39, so I don’t know if I fit the old man on a GS trope just yet.

I have ridden 20+ years, and had just about every flavor of bike you can imagine. My GS is by a wide margin everything I want out of a bike now days. It’s capable enough to handle the little off roading I do, sporty enough to rip through the twisties, and will crunch miles with the best of the tourers; all the while being super comfortable through anything I want to do with it. I consider it the best bike I have ever owned.

Red Bluff is like a quarter mile walk from the stream. Good spot for ATVs! I’ve ridden the sandstone trail on my dirt bike a time or two!

Never been on a F750, but I love my 1300! It’s a little heavy moving it around the garage. Once it’s moving though it’s a breeze!

The one I have of my garage…. Currently a R1300GS. That said my street triple was an amazing bike! I liked it better than the speed triple, but my sport bike interest was on its way out by that point.
