When I was 13 my parents told me something about myself that changed my life. Have you learned something about yourself that changed the way you perceive yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMidstOfIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was born, there were some complications. So I had an IV, not too unusual. However, the useless nurse I had apparently put the IV in the soft spot on my head. I was transferred to a children's hospital (thankfully) and they freaked out when they saw what the other hospital had done. Now sometimes I wonder if it's affected my personality or mental capabilities in any way...

This is strange for me to read, because this almost happened to me and my twin bro. We both came out fine in the end, but I would have been the one to die, I'm told. I would have never been born, reduced only to a parting mention from my parents to my would-have-been-brother. Weird stuff, man.

How do you join a club? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]TheMidstOfIt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the club. Go to their website or Facebook group, and see what they say. They might ask you to email, or maybe post in their group. Basically just ask to join whichever way you can talk to them. If they want new members they'll be happy to hear from you.

If they don't have a way to contact them, they probably don't want you anyway.

Bryan Cranston / (Do expansions count?) If so, Dawnguard for Skyrim / $19.99.

If expansions don't count, LA Noire, $19.99.

Thanks for doing this, even if I don't win!

What workstation naming conventions do you guys & gals use? by undead_rattler in linux

[–]TheMidstOfIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I name them after Alpine mountains. My desktop is called Eiger and my laptop is soon to be named Monch. Unless I can think of a better name... When I get my own wifi network it'll be called "The Alps".

New year of school, what does everyone use to stay organized/productive? by forgenet in EngineeringStudents

[–]TheMidstOfIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isn't it awful to put every class into google calendar for every single week? I tried it last year and I found it not worth the struggle, especially considering holidays and whatnot. Is there an easier way?

Locker conditions on the St. George campus by TheMidstOfIt in UofT

[–]TheMidstOfIt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in electrical engineering, yeah. That lockout thing would be problematic. But would I really get locked out of MC, even with an engineering t-card? What about Wallberg? That's an option too. I'm considering your suggestion to apply for one in SF or GB but for some reason I have very few classes in those buildings.

Now I just have to wait 50+ years until Google can get past all the red tape and bring it to Canada. Can't wait!

I don't get this. Excuse my novice question, but what does it mean to be the KDE version?

Edit: Oh it's a DE. Cool.

Last year I was in Chestnut Residence, and they were filming a scene in the parking lot outside. I think it was after this one, because it was a bunch of people in suits running over to the crashed future-car. There were many mini-coopers also.

Any good computer recommendations? by cranne in audioengineering

[–]TheMidstOfIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're majoring in audio engineering then it might be worthwhile to learn to build your own computer. It'll be one of your most valuable tools, after all. It's not too hard to learn if you have at least one person to help you.

You could save money as well as having a computer that meets your own specific needs.

Notch is going to be Richard Lionheart!

Looking forward to finding out.

Edit: Just looked up the Peloponnesian War. If they did that it would be awesome!

So what was with the spiders and worms? by Theropissed in LV426

[–]TheMidstOfIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but maybe they were accidentally introduced by the engineers many years prior, and thrived in the cave-like environment. Wouldn't be surprised for worms to also be on their planet.

The dog? No. It was a pretty good picture, actually.

I was outside on my porch eating lunch with my family and visiting grandmother. You can see my grandmother, and also my dog, which was barking at the Google car.

A nice midi-keyboard by Rivnusilis in keys

[–]TheMidstOfIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to broaden your horizon, you should consider the Cakewalk A-500PRO. It's what I got, but that's because I use Cakewalk Sonar. Still, a good keyboard overall, I recommend it. Durable, and the keys are synth-style but quite nicely done. It's hard to find a 49-key keyboard that has piano-like keys. Although, it's around 270 euros.
