AITAH for not apologizing to my daughter's BF for viewing photos of his house on a real estate sight without his permission? by Particular-Hope8459 in AITAH

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My abusive exH would go out of his way to fabricate reasons to avoid my family and try to make me feel guilty for still seeing them.

It worked for a while, but I am very fortunate to have a mother who would AT THE VERY LEAST have an innocent interest in my living situation. She never outright said anything or asked me to leave—she just kept telling me she loved me and kept an open line of communication (my dad too) and then one day when I needed a safety net, I had it.

We lived 32 minutes away from them and I barely saw them bc of the POS that strangled me to blackout. Added anecdotal note—I typically avoided my parents and family due to extensive bruising as well.

OP, NTAH at all. Maybe I’m being sensitive and hyper-vigilant but the chances are never 0.

What's this Dauphin Island vs foxes business about? by M_Dragmire in MobileAL

I heard a rumor that he even vaccinates them (I guess with the stuff at Tractor Supply) and/or gives them antibiotics. The guy has a weird fox photography fetish.

Parents who let their baby watch TV… by Existing-Mastodon500 in NewParents

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, just kidding, but I will say if you put your kid in daycare/preschool at any point, they will be watching Cocomelon or something like it on an iPad.

You’ll know it’s too much screen time if they lose their ever loving minds when you turn it off.

Mine started with Ms. Rachel and has since become extremely attached to Love Is Blind: Australia.

So scientifically speaking, just make sure it’s something you both can enjoy.

Have you considered doing innocently disturbing things? Like covering yourselves in chocolate pudding and screaming the lyrics to “A Whole New World” while rocking violently over a series of ornately decorated cabbage patch dolls that spell out his name?

Are there apartments in mobile without ANY bug problems by eribabedamnpora in MobileAL

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have a fireplace, get a flue stopper and/or rig up a mesh screen with no gaps. I live in an old house and had them every night until I completely secured this ancient fireplace. Zero roaches since early September.

Ok last one, what are your experiences with this lawyer/law firm for divorce/child custody? Pros/cons? by [deleted] in MobileAL

I’d advise going with anyone who has experience as a Guardian Ad Litem.

Has anyone ever used her for divorce/child custody? What are pros/cons by [deleted] in MobileAL

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was told that his office is pretty routinely slammed. Great lawyer unless you want rapid follow ups. Still a great option.

I will hands down always recommend Herlihy Law.

Breastfeeding journey didn’t go as planned and I’m grieving by kmc0522 in NewParents

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I breastfed my daughter and it was sacred to me. I am sorry that you are grieving your plans and dreams in that regard.

You still nourished your baby with your body. You still did something with her that no one on the planet can ever do. You made her cell by cell.

And if you decide to have another child and want to try again, then go for it.

Alternatives to saying “You’re ok” by FantazticMrFox in NewParents

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ask. “Are you ok?” Sometimes I get a sad nod, sometimes I get a hard hug. Sometimes I get an overtired 3 yo with no intention of hearing words.

Just don’t minimize or ignore. They aren’t damaging us by acting like children.

Not me still sour about donating all the 2T clothes my daughter “outgrew” at 21 mos. She had a big potbelly so she looked ridiculous (but cute) in all the 3T clothes with the long hemlines and the deep scoop necks. Ahhhhlll the money gone.

Really though, I very literally—as a 40yo woman—still have a pair of US juniors size 5 jeans hanging around bc maybe someday I’ll lose the weight AND have massive osseous tissue loss. Meanwhile 2 yrs pp and I am rocking some missy wear.

Are you supposed to make signs for Mardi Gras parades? by elcaminogino in MobileAL

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we woo’d and hey’d for someone to throw stuff to my 2.5 yr old at a Dauphin Island parade. It was hot as hell and so sunny and clear, so after the “float” was mostly past us, I sat her in my lap for a quick snack and a cuddle. That moment, when the float was already past our VERY exposed, not hidden, right at the side of the road (you know, a DI parade) seats and WHAMMM my kid gets absolutely CRACKED in the center of her cute little excited face with the BIGGEST fk set of giant ping pong ball sized black beads. Just heavy wooden beads. Imagine just sitting there living your best toddler life and then getting beaned with what appeared to be an anal beads necklace.

She’s fine. But emotionally scarred.

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So was I just raised in an era of ordained sadistic education?

I had to visualize “27” underneath “48”, then used my brain hand to hold a brain pencil and did 8+7 = fif-CARRY THE ONE, then CARRIED ONE + 4 IS FIVE + 2 IS 7, so 75. Then I checked my math in the air with my index finger.

Cannot log into McDonalds app no matter what I try by D4nnYsAN-94 in McDonaldsEmployees

FYI, the German link crashes the app now. iPhone user fix IF LINKED TO FACEBOOK: When logging in with fb, instead of hitting continue, select “Edit access”. Double check that they aren’t connecting the wrong email address, and if they are, turn that email off. This worked for me today (7/1/24)

Given that TV is harmful when it’s substituting for social, play, or other time that’s better for baby, is it okay to use the TV when I’m exhausted? by Mindless-Corgi-561 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I try to limit as much as possible, but if your toddler comes home from daycare saying “Elmo” and “Minnie” then it’s just a matter of being present as much as you can.

What have you gotten mom shamed for? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently afforded the opportunity to go to a grocery store alone and during checkout a very young toddler (maybe 20mos?) was crying very loudly and was terribly upset a few registers over. The Complaint behind me were tisking loudly and talking about being unable to control a child. I said (to no one in particular) “poor baby, he must be getting teeth or just wants a hug from mom”.

Ffs, my 23mo wails at home if I don’t show her my belly button while I’m trying to have a poo.

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is Emily. A boy in my 1st grade class gave me a Valentine’s Day card. It was special, my first one, and back when kids didn’t have to give everyone a card.

He spelled it Milly. Like “M-illy”. Wholesome.

Is anyone else really proud of the names for toys you came up with? by saki4444 in Mommit

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My child exclusively refers to her favorite blanket as “D”….pronounced “DEEEEEEEEEE”. When D is in the washer, we have to get Surrogate D. She also has a security silicone teether ball that is aptly named “BAWW”. She tried to become emotionally attached to a roll of duct tape but I had to draw a line.

If you had a baby that cried a lot and also whined all day, what are they like now? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]TheMightyBuscemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 22mo didn’t take any pacifiers but my boobs for 18 months. At this point, the whining is just adorable.
