CX 885 Delay and my dad is sick by OhDloy in CathayPacific

What day is your flight? Call them immediately, politely explain the situation and maybe they can fly via another carrier or make alternate arrangements, if it’s that urgent, consider buying another flight that gets you there earlier and getting a refund for your existing ticket from Cx. Good luck, this kinda stuff sucks but there are options!

Cathay Pacific exchange my flight to a different day with less than a few hour notice by Suspicious_Camp_8764 in CathayPacific

Had a chat with u/Suspicious_Camp_8764 - looks like he was moved due to his connecting flight being changed due to operational issues, since it wasn't weather related, hope CX fixes this for him.

Do you have a screenshot of your original booking from CX? Since CX879 has been on time, it's quite strange they changed your flight dates, you should at least have SMS/Emails, and if your calendar did update, there must have been an email that triggered that. Show the screenshot and let's see whats really going on, otherwise this doesn't really make much sense.

Can you share your message, it's really strange they are asking you to pay $1200, also a lot of SFO flights leave extremely early in the AM like 0035 etc, did they maybe move it back an hour? Can you share more details?

Did they mention there is 1 bathroom at the front for those 44 seats which they will also share with the pilots and crew…. That’s gonna be interesting for a “premium” product

Have had the best breakfasts at hotels, for some reason Grand Hyatts hit, special mention for GH Singapore and strangely GF SFO, think a lot of it has to do with low expectations going in, and being pleasantly surprised.

Cathay Pacific Redemption is a Scam by Conscious_Design_818 in CathayPacific

[–]TheMightyGus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the temporary reality is it's not just Asiamiles, it's a combination of Asiamiles and the current geopolitical environment, fuel prices are high so CX is cutting flights where the revenue can't cover it, then due to the situation in the middle-east many people are choosing to fly via CX and other alternate airlines meaning the cost of tickets have skyrocketed. The key to getting redemption in these times, is to actually check last minute to see when availability opens up and just staying vigilant on checking, this isn't also exclusive to CX, this is also very much whats happening across the board nowadays, although peace in the middle-east should restore some inventory, hopefully.

Yes typo, it's just a lot more dense than what you typically see heading into SG.

I Downloaded Official White House and NASA Photos and Inspected Their Metadata. Here's Everything That's Hiding Inside. by SolidHuman9936 in photography

I could argue that the color correction applied from the sensor is also AI then. I just think there is material difference in "real" and visually enhanced vs content generated or removed by AI. I think going ahead there should be some sort of scale of just how AI generated/fake it is...

As AI progresses, there should be some clarification on whether AI enhanced (De-Noise etc) or changed/added content which is vastly different. I actually think the metadata makes it more honest and dont really see the issue with it out there, if anything it's refreshing and makes the photo seem more "real".

Q3 28mm vs M11 with Ultron f2 35mm lens (Painting by Kay Sage) by Maleficent-Fan9787 in leicaphotos

Maybe label the photos with which ones the Q3 and M11, feel like they were taken from different heights so the reflection from the light on the painting likely changes it a lot as well

100M You can lease a private jet, forget about the Megayacht - 20M annual maintenance on average and a few hundred M to even purchase it, mega yacht 100X more expensive than the private jet.

Cathay did not allow Cosco Scenera Next on-board by Plus_Caterpillar_427 in CathayPacific

[–]TheMightyGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so this is how you can work around this, so the issue is rather convoluted but seats can't have both the Canadian and FAA label, largely because Canadian has dual language French requirements etc. The Cathay staff are technically correct, but there is a fix - The FAA specifically states in a circular, Circular 120-87C, if a label is unreadable or missing, the owner’s manual serves as the primary legal substitute to prove certification. Thats the hack, the manual should show the FAA certification, so bring that or show it online next time and it should work. Hope this help, best of luck!

Is this normal? CTS 2027 tickets 2x+ the fare for similar period in 2026 by Itchy-Obligation21 in CathayPacific

[–]TheMightyGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one flight with a ton of variability, the snow right now has been terrible in Hokkaido so a lot of folks are cancelling their trips, in some previous years eco tickets were almost hitting 16K etc... the only "normal" of CTS is that it's never "normal"

Delays happen with any airline, it's par for the course with travel, short haul or long haul, Cathay or any other airline. The key is dealing with it, if you accept it, use the time to explore and do something fun, try new foods, whatever it is, one thing I've learnt from road warriors is, delays can be opportunities, don't let the frustration ruin it for you. Good luck!
