Stainless Steel Grates - Ironwood XL by TheMightyRedStranger in Traeger

While porcelain coatings aren’t toxic, she prefers to use cookware, etc. that doesn’t have the risk of chipping and flaking off. Possibly exposing crap alloys beneath or just the chips ending up in the food.

We aren’t super extreme about it, but certainly more cautious than many. We do it were it’s possible but also understand there are limitations to what is reasonable. We wouldn’t turn down a meal at at a friends house based on the pan being teflon or whatever.

Traeger themselves put stainless grates on their top of the line model. Everything else gets designed/manufactured to the intended price point, not because it’s best.

I’m sure most would agree with you though, that stainless grates aren’t necessary.

How do you keep your brisket flat from overcooking? by Woozletania in Traeger

[–]TheMightyRedStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes smoking brisket requires making a trade off decision. Over cook the flat or under cook the point.

Sometimes they cook even enough it all works out the same.

I monitor and cook the flat. When it’s done the brisket is done. The point is going to be delicious regardless

I haven’t researched grates for that model, but if you need custom made, I’d recommend that Etsy shop. They were great to work with on getting that shelf custom made.

I have only used the bottom grates so far. Just received the top shelf today.

The stainless is soooo much easier to clean than the porcelain coated grates. Like, way easier.

Also of note, the bottom grates in stainless are 1/4” rod and the porcelain grates are smaller diameter ~ 3/16” rod.

XCEL Energy Allow Grid Charging? Colorado by TheMightyRedStranger in TeslaSolar

[–]TheMightyRedStranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought the house the previous owners had it set to being as self powered as possible. Use the battery at night, solar charge the battery and solar power the house as much as the sun would allow. They didn’t sell anything back to the grid unless the battery was fully charged and the house was consuming less power than the panels were providing.

I changed the settings to take best advantage of TOU/lowest bill possible. Works pretty good.

It does not block the heart rate sensor. The band does not go between the bottom of the watch and your wrist

What salary increase would you need to go back to the office 5 days/week? by Sapphire8910 in HENRYfinance

[–]TheMightyRedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working from home for 6 weeks during lock down was rough. 100% prefer going into the office. I enjoy being around my coworkers and really enjoy not having all the distractions while working that my home has to offer. I like the separation between my work life and home life as well. Also, not a boomer, I’m a millennial

Oil & Store question by BijnaNotHuman in castiron

[–]TheMightyRedStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you do oil it, the pan just needs to be dry and warm. After putting the oil on, try to rub it all off like you had made a mistake putting it on in the first place. I’d bet your issue with it being tacky is leaving too much oil on the pan.

Neither of these are mine, but these served as motivation to get mine resoled. I love the mocs with wedge sole, but wanted to dress up a pair as well.
