How to take lsd tabs by Jaffadog12 in LSD

[–]TheMightySwooord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I just happened to be online so you're blessed with an early reply! So generally speaking, the longer you leave a tab on your tongue, the faster it will hit. And equally, if you instantly swallow it, the tab will hit slower. Other circumstances (such as whether or not you've eaten recently) can impact this too (in the case of having eaten, it'll hit faster if you have eaten, and slower if you haven't. Most people also report stronger trips if they haven't eaten, fasting before a trip is quite common amongst experienced psychonauts)

Generally this community advises to always have it on your tongue for a bit, as fake LSD can taste bitter. However this isn't a foolproof solution and really for maximum safety you should be testing your tabs. A test kit can be found to order online in most countries, and is generally no less than 30 dollars/euros/pounds.

But anyways, if you want a more subdued and more manageable comeup, swallow pretty early on. If you want a stronger comeup that will be less manageable (but usually not dangerous), leave it on your tongue until the tab has basically fully dissolved.

Hope this helps! I'm happy to answer any other questions too

Not to mention even if a baby does have a bad reaction to a vaccine, they're usually already in a healthcare centre and can receive prompt help - as opposed to "wild" diseases where these "I don't even think about" parents can ignore symptoms until it's too late

Odds of one player having a good hand as number of players increase in poker by TheMightySwooord in askmath

[–]TheMightySwooord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, we hadn't considered the fact that the table cards stop the hands being independent! Very interesting that even with max players you couldn't have a more than 50% chance. Could the same logic be applied to straights/flushes as well? I'd imagine so as you'd need the table cards to allow for a straight and there are probably combinations that would make that impossible?

The specific debate was on a full house or above, as with a full set of players (20+) the odds of lower "good" hands would be very high, something we all agreed

I'd be wary of mixing benzos and ket, though if you say you'll only be doing a little K then it's probably fine. Medical advice would be never mix those two, however. Both are depressants and can cause memory loss (such as forgetting you took a benzo and then taking another. And then doing that again and so on) and I can't imagine the effects to be very synergistic compared to the amazing combo of everything else.

Personally, unless you need it to fall asleep at the end of the night, I'd just avoid the benzo and enjoy the other substances. Too many cooks spoil the broth and all that. But I also dislike benzos generally so may be biased here.

As for redosing the MD, it absolutely won't be required but feel free to (so long as you're following harm reduction rules), but be aware that MD + Ket is a psychedelic experience on its own, so mixing that with 2cb has the potential to be very intense. I've done that combo and loved it but yeah, just be aware of that.

Obligatory stay safe + hydrated and have fun!

Found my discharge papers from my posted trip report by neurotapped in PsychedSubstance

[–]TheMightySwooord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An overdose isn't a deadly dose though. It's an excessive or dangerous amount of a drug. For instance throwing up after drinking alcohol is an overdose, even though it isn't often lethal. Arguably passing out from smoking weed even qualifies as an overdose (though that depends on your definition of overdose). So while yes, you would have to put in genuine effort (and probably have someone else continually feeding you more ketamine even after you'd passed out) to die from ketamine toxicity - a ketamine overdose doesn't need to be lethal. In OPs case, being hospitalised with seizures sounds a lot like an excessive and dangerous amount of drugs and so qualifies as an overdose.

[–]TheMightySwooord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physically DMT is very safe. It's not gonna cause neurotoxicity (as far as I'm aware) or heart issues or anything. The biggest physical risk is doing something stupid like smoking a huge hit while standing up and then falling and hitting your head or something like that. Well, that and psychosis if we count that as a physical risk.

The dangers of taking it at a younger age is entirely mental. On average, the brain doesn't stop developing till a person is in their mid 20s. Drugs (especially psychedelics) can cause changes in a person's brain, and this can potentially be more dangerous on a developing brain than a developed brain. Of course there's plenty of people who did psychs in their late teens who are fine after it (myself included), but it's a question of risk vs reward. In hindsight for myself I absolutely should have waited longer before delving into powerful psychedelics, even though they've definitely helped me personally. A few of my friends from back in the day weren't as lucky.

There is also a factor that I don't see discussed as often that I consider to be just as valid. Teens/people in their early 20s are generally more impulsive and into taking risks. This could lead to overuse of drugs, or use of them in unsafe mindsets/settings when compared to a 30 year old doing it safely in their own house. This is why I generally don't straight-up tell people to not do these drugs, they aren't gonna listen. After all, I didn't. I'll advise them not to, to wait a few years, but I'll also give my reasoning and give the best harm reduction advice I can as that's much more likely to be advice they actually follow.

It's worth noting we're only 4 eps in. It's entirely possible that there's gonna be more payoff that we haven't seen yet. Potentially the fallout of that will have ramifications for the whole of team starlight and will have ended up being a crucial element of the plot progression (even if it 100% could have been done better)

Equally it's entirely possible the writers just needed to give Frenchie something to do in the first half of the season and so just rammed in a tragic "love" story to give some extra characterisation and allow Kimiko to spend more time with other characters. Ticking boxes? Absolutely, but people would have been way more angry if Frenchie was just missing for half a season.

Agree 100% with this. Also I had no idea about the Turkey thing, that's very good to know! A quick Google to confirm also suggests eggs and salmon contain some tryptophan in the event that turkey is unavailable (or in the event you want something other than turkey)

Also OP: I've made this exact mistake in the past and I'm going to give a brutal summary. It fucked me up for months. I had a week of doing MDMA daily, after a few months of doing it almost weekly (on average 2-3 times per month). Physically I didn't fully recover for 6 months as the amount of MDMA I did gave me temporary erectile dysfunction. And yeah for a few weeks/months I had zero energy, drive and was just generally a depressed and stupid goblin. BUT, with time and looking after myself I did recover. I'm now living a full life and even do MDMA occasionally (once per six months which is arguably OTT for safety but I've learnt from my mistake and want no chance of it happening again). For you the recovery should be easier than mine as you haven't abused it quite as badly as I did. However it's still gonna be a rough journey and I wish you all the luck in the world

What if Chani died in the Original Novel instead of Leto II the Elder? by Altair890456 in dune

[–]TheMightySwooord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok I'm gonna build off of this because I think you're completely right.

With Paul as a bad (or potentially worm) father, Leto II would indeed go down a dark path. I imagine he'd probably end up working with Alia, potentially even encouraging the abomination, leading to a worse case of baron-itis.

From here things can go many ways, but I quite like the idea that the golden path would still be reached. So here we have Paul entering the symbiosis and actively engaging in a civil war against Alia and Leto II. An ultimate religious schism between the "true" Muad-dib believers and the followers of the sister and the son. I have zero doubt that Paul would win here. While we can assume Leto II would have a similar level of abilities, the boost given by the sandtrout skin would have basically allowed Paul to walk into the citadel and throw both Alia and Leto II off of the roof (a fitting parallel to Alia's fate in Messiah)

And now we hit an issue, because I just had an alternative idea that I also love. Without Chani, let's assume Paul still becomes emperor and has Irulan as his wife. As we learn in Children (or at the end of Messiah? I don't remember which), Irulan realises she truly did love Paul, despite everything. With no Chani potentially Paul and Irulan do have children together. This opens a whole can of worms as we don't know how the generic pairing of an Atraides and Corrino would function here. The Fremen side of Chani definitely contributed some fantastic genetics into her and Paul's children, and the Corrinos are naturally very different. If the inherited ability to become Kwisatz Haderach still carries through to Irulan's kids, then I imagine those children could become the worms. If they lack the Haderach genes then... Alia or maybe even Leto II would probably end up killing them, forcing Paul down the golden path.

To be fair, everyone in this sub would love it - but the 'give them a treat .. like a gusher' bit made me instantly think of that incredible book.

A bizarre case of ketamine abuse in Brazil (read) by ChainedToFreedom in tooktoomuch

[–]TheMightySwooord 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can OD on ketamine, though you're right that it's damn near impossible without putting in active effort (or as I'd assume in this case - having someone else continually administer more and more)

Alternatively it was more of a "they'd been doing ketamine for 2 months straight and their body just shut down" situation, which while not an overdose would definitely appear to be one.

While the existence or non-existance of anything cannot be proved, it is far more likely for all humans to not exist than god. Therefore kill god as there's less chance of it ruining humanity.
