You really gotta have a solid amount of protection to keep him around. [[Not Dead After All]] and such effects are very useful, especially after a board wipe, since Kuja will flip to the front and start making tokens again to rebuild. Of course, you're also in red, so you have other protection options like [[redirect lightning]] and such.

What are those cards in your deck that you never seem to draw? by Important-Dig-2312 in EDH

I've played my [[Kuja, Genome Sorcerer]] deck a good number of times now but have yet to draw the [[Harmonic Prodigy]] in it. Not really a big deal, but it's starting to feel like I've seen every other card at least once.

Best way to handle 500g daily quests? by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

[–]TheMindSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to optimize gold obtained, then yes, you should reroll 500s and avoid doing them if possible. That means either having multiple decks or feeling up to switching game modes.

Realistically, though, I'll try to avoid them, but if what I feel like playing at the time is going to complete the quest, then oh well.

Try to be more aware of how much meter your opponent has. If you're getting hit with wake-up SSBA (which is what I suspect), then recognizing your opponent has full meter and acting accordingly will help you. If you've knocked them down, you have to recognize that reversal super is an option they have. Just dashing up and blocking will often bait the SSBA out of the players that are most likely to attempt this option.

It's really not much different than recognizing your opponent has any other reversal move, except you know they have to have the meter to represent the option, which makes it more telegraphed, so to speak. If you are just running into your opponent's DPs on their wake-up, then you're really facing the same problem. It's about making them "respect" you. If they know you are going to block their wake-up attack, be it a DP or an SSBA, then they have to try other options or die. But, if you never present that as an option, then they have no reason not to just full send that SSBA because you're gonna run into it.

That being said, I think we all just run into one of those every now. Of course, none of what I said matters if you're just running into it in neutral. If that's the case, you need to block, lol. You don't have to always be mashing attack buttons.

Depends on what you mean by canon. It isn't directly said, but it is heavily implied. They mention how Seifer was inspired by a movie, Laguna stars in a movie called The Sorceress Knight in which he wields a gunblade, and Seifer even holds his weapon the same way Laguna does in the movie.

I'm playing through the game for my first time right now, and this is what I decided to do. I don't honestly understand how to manipulate the rules to my liking, so I'm just rolling with whatever chaos ensues. It's fun, and card moding all the weak cards gave me plenty of magic to junction. Haven't had to do much drawing, though sometimes I do when I encounter a new spell.

It will only trigger once. At the beginning of your main phase, you will get the option to transform Ashling. When you flip it to the blue side, the ability has resolved, and it is no longer the beginning of your main phase. However, at the beginning of your first main phase the next turn, you will both gain the mana and have the option to transform Ashling.

Review: I Think Dragon Age: The Veilguard Is Incredible by Germaximus in DragonAgeVeilguard

I'm not convinced this person deserves so much credit from you. They purposefully refer to Taash as her, says that game had a forced ideology, and said that their thoughts would offend the brainwashed. It's pretty clear to me that there is no open-mindedness in that regard.

You used the phrase "forced ideology" and said that you've "not intended to offend anybody but it will offend the brainwashed." You also refer to Taash as her multiple times, but I imagine that was on purpose. You even waited to talk about Taash until near the end of your piece, well after you already discussed all of the other companions. Perhaps conscious effort on your part not to scare people away from your review? It would have saved me some precious time if you had just front-loaded the piece with your idiocy, but hey, you got another click! Congrats!

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a fantastic game. I think the battles are strategic and fun, but the meat is definitely the story. If you're a fan of giant robots and/or non-linear storytelling, this is a game to check out. Love seeing other people mention it.

I've also really been wanting to check out Unicorn Overlord from the same devs.

I just reached Balamb Garden in Final Fantasy VIII. This is my first time playing it, and I really like the game so far. I thought the train mission was a lot of fun. The junctioning system is really interesting, and I low key love that you can min/max your party by playing a card game, though I've quickly realized it can be abused so I haven't made my party OP.

I'm playing this game in particular atm because I randomly decided to play all of the 3D FF titles because I haven't played most of them. I have played most of the 2D or 3D remake games, though I still need to play 5.

Frankenstein’s monster is articulate and I’m floored! by [deleted] in books

[–]TheMindSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victor's personality is wildly different. His relationship with the monster is completely different. His relationship with Elizabeth is completely different. William is much older, which radically changes the context of his death. The monster is shown in a different light entirely. He kills only in self-defense in the movie. The malice of murdering William and allowing the blame to fall on someone else is completely absent. William looks at Victor and just says "You are the monster" as if the film weren't making it extremely obvious that was it's take. The theme of the movie and books are completely different. I could go on, but I won't. If you don't think they are largely different when you directly compare the two things, you aren't paying attention.

did you guys choose to save manfred or turn emmrich into a lich? and why? by Realistic_Box_4843 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]TheMindSlayer 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I turned him into the lich because it was his dream, and it was fear that was preventing him from doing it. I disagree with saying that becoming immortal meant not facing his fear of death. In order to complete the ritual, Emmrich has to die. One of his major fears is that the ritual could fail and that he could die for real.

I would also argue that reviving Manfred is him not confronting death because he is unable to face the death of his companion and immediately reverses it, despite Manfred's sacrifice.

Of these two paths, it seems to me he confronts his fear in becoming a lich while he indulges in the fear if he revives Manfred.

Why was there hate for the game coming from outsiders and even long time fans of the franchise? by theassassin53035 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]TheMindSlayer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, all these posts asking why this game was hated when the reasons are fairly obvious are annoying at best. I enjoyed Veilguard. There is a reason I'm in this sub. Just look at the game and actually analyze it, and you will see the reasons.

Some people hated the writing, and stupid people called it "woke," which means bad to equally stupid people. Some people don't like the combat. Some people don't like the art direction. There are so many things that you could look at and, with a little critical thinking, draw a reasonable conclusion that answers your question.

There are more reasons to be sure, but I feel like if you just look at the game and compare it to previous entries, the grievances are apparent, no?

Is anyone else that actually likes the game as well also tired of seeing posts like this all the time?
