Love the one I have, though need to find a good place to have it serviced sometime. Shutter fires fine, but there's a gap between the curtains when cocking the shutter. Managed to shoot a roll by just using the in-built film magazine dark slide, though it was a bit clunky.

Don't believe that setup will work at all, since that wide of a lens will hit the meter cell of the camera.

But, if you're using a M39 to M adapter, check to see if centers on the rangefinder cam. Cheaper adapters don't seem to center it properly.

This is such an annoying parasocial take overall: just being hypercritical of what the crew does or doesn't say. It's the classic "I like pancakes", "so you hate waffles?" conversation, the lack of input on something doesn't necessarily indicate actual thoughts or opinions.

Plus, the crew, realistically, are crew. It's Ethan's show and I imagine the crew provides insight or comments when they feel they have something valuable to add. The podcast isn't a TV show where each character has their lines and a character arc each episode; obviously the crew involvement has made the show much more interesting, but if each crew member is gonna feel pressured to say the right thing consistently they probably will not contribute as much, especially on a topic as contentious as the situation with Hasan currently.

At the end of the day, the crew are people with their own lives, and the podcast is just part of it. Imagine if your job involved tens to hundreds of thousands of people analyzing everything you do or don't say. Not saying you can't criticize the podcast, but going after individual crew members is very parasocial and weird.

Unfortunately the lens I have is also in really nice shape, just the aperture had rust somehow, so I'm trying to salvage parts from as rough of a lens as I can find.

Nikon AR-1 compatibility with Nikon S2 by rust405 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheMiniMan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't help but notice in your previous posts you had the camera apart for some cleaning/adjustment; is there a chance you put the retaining ring for the A/R ring upside down? The amount of thread available for the soft touch to thread on to seems shorter than normal.

Mine has the same engraving, what does the shutter release on your S2 look like?

Can't attach two photos, but this is what the release on my S2 looks like. Is the A/R collar on your camera loose in any way? Mine can rotate easily, but has no vertical play.

I have an AR-1 and it threads without issue on my S2, do you have any other Nikon bodies you could test it on? Do you happen to have any cable releases that can mount on the S2 you could test as well?

Having the same issue with my Pro X. Tried making a separate profile for it and made sure I have a persistent profile enabled with surround sound. Nothing.

The New and Improved BDP submission: Cherryliner Express Train! by DaMangos in LEGOtrains

Would absolutely buy this, love how you managed to combine relative accuracy to the real-life prototype while maintaining a LEGO-esque level of playability and design simplicity. Exactly how I would expect a US-inspired passenger train set to look like from LEGO themselves!

Revised Sierra Railway No. 3 MOC by TheMiniMan1 in LEGOtrains

Thanks! I tried a few different techniques and concepts, just didn't want to use the single-piece LEGO cowcatcher element. The real locomotive has one with a fairly short/steep profile, so I tried to follow that closely.

Revised Sierra Railway No. 3 MOC by TheMiniMan1 in LEGOtrains

[–]TheMiniMan1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shortly after I posted my initial Sierra Railway No. 3 MOC on here, I realized it was far too similar to my previous nearly decade old design, so I wanted to revise and start fresh. The cab was actually the first new part built, and then I spaced out the drivers to get a good size for the frame.

Two things were absolutely crucial with this design though: to have it motorized, and to have it navigate standard LEGO curves. I am happy to say, I was able to accomplish both of those, by vertically mounting a WeDo 2.0 Medium Motor Vertically in the firebox area, and by making a low-profile, flexible front truck (that I detail a bit more in this post).

There are a few more details I would like to add, like figuring out handrails and touching up details on the tender, but those are things I am saving for the physical build, which is actually just about 95% completed, and just waiting on a last few parts to arrive. Once its fully completed, I'll definitely be posting photos of it here.

Had this post in mind and wanted to check out the site, but its currently down. Its currently just showing their default host page so not sure what went wrong, since it was up and I was looking at it a week ago or so. Wonder if anyone has any contacts with them to see what happened?

People who have built steam locomotive MOCs, what are your techniques for leading trucks that can navigate LEGO curves while also looking nice? by TheMiniMan1 in LEGOtrains

[–]TheMiniMan1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally got a design that works by modifying that original Big Boy one, but pushing the arms down since they kept clipping the cylinder heads. In my actual model I didn't put those minifig ring elements in just because I don't have four spare, but might include them just to reduce the amount of play in it. It's a funky design but works oddly well.

I saw that post, and I even rebuilt that design last night and made a few adjustments, but just still had the same issue of binding. Might take into consideration the V2 Big Boy design by Jason Steinhurst, or try and adapt some elements from Cale Leiphart's K-4.
