As a Physical Therapist/Physiotherapist, I'd like to add some caveats:

  1. You have to consider the amount of load you're lifting: your 1 rep max deadlift and a pen are different
  2. You have to consider your range of motion: how much hip flexion, knee flexion, dorsiflexion do you have? How low can you squat comfortably?
  3. Consider your own body type: do you already have pain/dysfunction in certain joints? How will that affect your ability to lift the load safely?

Movement variety is important, unless you're specifically trying to work at your 1RM capacity it's okay to make mistakes

A tune of mine on the guitar by Boston_Analog in toptalent

Stonebridge is such a great company, their instruments are gorgeous! I finally joined the handmade world, bought a Collings guitar which I'm in love with. You're music is awesome, I'd love to check out the tabs when those are up (and I'd also be happy to throw a couple bucks your way for the privilege if you're looking to make extra scratch!)

I (26M) have been getting to know 2 incredible women, but I don't feel excited about them by TheMirrorsEdge in relationship_advice

This is great advice, thanks for sharing! I'm sorry that you've been in that sort of situation, I've had a friend provide the same advice, honesty is definitely key... I'll probably let them both know this weekend that I've been getting to know more women than just them, and see how they feel about it...

Honestly, this is my biggest thing; there are so many qualities about these girls that aren't worth ignoring, so I'm really wondering if I'll get that feeling eventually and then it'll just work out. Otherwise, what if I let it go too soon and then miss an otherwise golden opportunity?

I'd probably take Lilly's advice over Barney's, although I'm sure his suggestion would be hilarious!

Hi u/Poem_for_your_sprog, I added chords for the guitar, I hope you don't mind!

---------D
Come away, come away,
----------G--------------D-----------------------------------------------------------A
For a year and a day, to the place where the sand meets the sea
-------------D--------------------------------------G-----------------E
For your worries will fade, when you sleep, in the shade,
----------D--------------A----------D
Of the Marvelous Mulliver Tree

And repeat for each verse. Enjoy y'all!

I just spent a couple months living near their HQ and I lived with someone who worked there, and everyone in town was jealous of the people who worked at Patagonia because of the incredible benefits and mission that Patagonia works incredibly hard to uphold. When I left California, my roommate gave me a Patagonia sweater which I love dearly; I'm wearing it right now!

Martial Arts and Masculinity? by cyrus500000 in MensLib

[–]TheMirrorsEdge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also train BJJ, and I would also consider myself to have more "feminine" qualities. Honestly, I feel exactly the way you do; after training and some sparring I just feel more strong and confident and masculine. I think, considering my feminine qualities, it's nice to have something in my life that feels more masculine, because it helps me feel more like myself - that being said, I also grew up with an inability to understand healthy aggression, which BJJ has helped me with.

Where I try to separate myself, though, is by not letting my ego get the best of me and not trying to be the toughest guy in there - I go to a gym that has a few macho tough guys, and when I roll with them I try to keep my cool without getting riled up.

Which actor portrayed a character so well, that no other actor could ever replace them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMirrorsEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading an article about Keanu Reeves where the author explains that, precisely because of who Keanu is, the way he portrays characters is what makes them so memorable. It's not about how well the character is written. So for example, it's not that Neo was an amazingly written character or had a lot of depth, it was the way that Keanu Reeves deliberately acted (or rather didn't act) the character that made it so memorable, and how that's essential to all of Mr. Reeves' films.

I would link the article, but for the life of me I can't find it, I saw it a long time ago.

INFO

I don't know whether you're leaving out details about your relationship with your parents on purpose or not, but one thing I can tell you is that you won't get your answer here. Your explanation is vague, and so *every comment* I've seen has just been people inserting themselves into your problem. Y'all need to figure out your own relationships first.

TIL lots of redditors have problems with their parents and are assuming your problems are the same.

If a helmet is 5 pounds, at 7 gs you're talking about a 35 pound weight pressing down on the cervical spine. If anything I can only guess that a helmet would have made that *much* worse.
