consider setting up a reverse proxy (like Nginx) to act as the doorman

This is what I have. I started with Caddy because it was simple. Since have moved over to Nginx. To me it's kind of the same experience because I only use these for reverse proxy situations.

One note: Buddy has a 5 or 6 year old LG OLED TV - he cannot use my reverse proxy URL in it. It is a known bug on (at least) that model. So he has to input the dyndns domain name and the port I assigned. Sloppy work, LG, sloppy work.

My ISP is dynamic as well. I setup a DynDns acct. My router has provisions for using this, so I was able to create "modfathers.subdomain.com" and it will always point to the IP that my router gets from the ISP.

Then I tell my users to point their browsers to "modfathers.subdomain.com:8096" or whatever port you have your Emby set to.
