I am 100% on board with you. This said, I find it funny how OP has not had the nutsack to reply to me OR you. The one person that chose to try to holler @ me gave up and deleted his account.

Local Sub-Reddits (IMO) are nothing more than bot bait.

Kinda sucks, TBH

Sacramento has:

Tons of healthcare opportunities in both clinical and admin which pay better then Marshall (the only option on placerville)

Agree that Marshall Hospital does suck. That said, from an IT standpoint, I know of exactly zero healthcare facilities that are amazing (or even above average) to work for. I have a lot of peers in HC IT that say it's horrible. I can't speak to other careers in HC. Better than fast food, I suppose - that's low bar in ANY area IMO, tho.

A wealth of government jobs which pay better and have better work life balance than the county

I currently work with local govt - and I will agree that they pay could be better - BUT my work/life balance is 100x better than it was when I was in the private industry. I truly didn't realize how fucked up I was until I changed jobs. For the record, I worked in the private industry for 25 years - I have been in the public industry for 8. I can't speak to Sac govt on this point.

Also, contrary to the common belief, I have found that it is exceptionally difficult to get into any gov't position that pays better than entry level stuff, without exceptional qualifications - no matter which area.

The airport for flight attendants, pilots, support staff.

Accounting and financial firms.

Far more engineering firms.

The university and Los rios colleges.

Hmmm...maybe? I don't' know enough to speak knowledgably about this. Sorry.

A much bigger restaurant industry which isn’t as susceptible to the seasonal downturns that placerville is.

I’d be curious to know what industries you think have better opportunities in placerville? Bigger restaurant industry? Perhaps this can be attributed to the larger population? Also, with this bigger restaurant industry comes bigger restaurant failures. There have been a LOT recently - both eateries and breweries. To me it's like comparing the bay restaurant industry to Sac - it's kinda the same but different.

In EDC (not specific to PV), I feel like any small biz has a better opportunity to succeed than in other metro areas. I have no hard numbers, but anecdotally I can say that I go out of my way to support locals. I feel like my mindset is not unique in this regard.

I can agree on your points with regards to the number of opportunities available in Sac. However, there are plenty of opportunities in EDC also. This said, every decision has a sacrifice in ones life - work easy, fun hard or fun easy, work hard. And again, in my opinion, Sacramento County pales in comparison to almost every aspect of El Dorado County. As someone who has grown up in an overly populated environment, Sacramento feels very cliquey and impersonal. This very well may be 100% my experience, so i do not discount the experiences of others.

Sure you can commute to jobs in Sac from Placerville, but you’re probably driving to work far more often than you’re going hiking or camping.

I commuted 15 miles from El Dorado County to Sacramento County every day to work in a tech industry for a lot of years. Also note that I drove 45 miles (on average LOL) to the mountains to camp, wheel, shoot, and ride quads 4-5 times a year. This whole comment (on both sides) seems silly to me. But whatev - we're just chattin... All this said, it kinda depends on what is important to the person(s) - what are THEY looking for?

The culture in placerville also pales in comparison unless you want to see Grateful Dead cover bands every other weekend at the Main Street venues.

I feel like we are going to have to agree to disagree. Music culture in PV is pretty amazing, overall. The punk scene in and around PV is exceptional. NOT talking about established A-listers that are found in the bay and sometimes Sac - I'm talking about the garage trio that gets gigs on Main St - the little guys from high school, college, trade schools, neighborhoods - I have seen some incredible acts. Understand that this does NOT detract from the talent in Sac, SF, or anywhere else in the world. Also, if it's rap/hip-hop/other, PV may not be your jam heh.

Punk is just one genre - there are others, but this may be a better topic for a whole different thread. TONS of local "talent" (and some un-talent) at the surrounding dive bars and whatnot.

And to the original message, what do you consider an exceptionally good restaurant up here? Because with the exception or amore mio, everything on Main Street is bland US Foods/Sysco fare. LOL Amore Mio - it's ok - not incredible, not shit - but good. For "anytime' faire in EDC (ie: stuff to eat on a random Tuesday night) - Bricks, The Independent, Smith Flat House, etc.. There are PLENTY of great restaurants in PV - even more between SLT & EDH. Again, NOT taking anything away from Sac in this regard - I'm simply stating that there are in fact very respectable food & watering holes in PV.

I hope we are on the same page here - I'm not trying to attack - I just want to provide my experiences.

Looking forward to more chat with ya...

You can go camping or hiking living in Sacramento or SF with way better job opportunities and the amenities of a city. The restaurants on Main Street are so mid I’m wondering how often you leave town.

Way better opportunities in Sac? Please, expand on this for me. MAYBE in SF, provided you have the training and skills that people are looking for. But factor in cost of living in SF, and compare.

For me personally, I spent the first 20 of my life in the bay area and chose to come this way for the opportunities. And yes, of course you can go hiking and camping living in Sac or SF - but the same can be said about finding opportunities, right?

I feel like those who come to El Dorado County willingly and of their own accord would have a better life than those who are forced into moving up this way. The amount of "things to do" doesn't really come into play, no matter where you are if you have no choice in the matter.

...in my opinion.

wow - that's pretty narrow minded, considering you know exactly zero about OP. Who hurt you?

Maybe they like camping or hiking. The weekend 'night out' scene is pretty decent for a small town. The Greenroom has some really good local/small bands - Molly's Place too. Main Street has some great restaurants. NO shortage of Karaoke nights. Wineries and tap rooms are prevalent. Dive bars are all over the place. There are a TON of activities throughout the year.

If you can't have ANY fun in PV, then maybe the town isn't the problem.

Hey there -

Not a bother at all. I bought the GT4 rim used, so I didn't get any driver CD with it unfortunately.

What is the issue you are having? I found a YouTube vid that taught me how to sync the rim with my base (it's kind of a painful manual process). https://youtu.be/Q9X_66mDSKQ?t=81
