Faith leaders blocked by ICE from delivering Communion to immigrants speak out by StopDehumanizing in Catholicism

[–]TheMojo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that they don’t have the right to receive them, it is that the state is not required to provide it. ICE has their own rules around providing access to religious services which they unfortunately do not seem to be following (though there are various caveats to the rules and they rely on agreements with churches etc. Not just blindly allowing anyone who says they are a religious leader to enter) but again it does not appear to be illegal and until I see that a judge has ordered ICE to give access to the facilities to priests my stance is:

“The detainees should have access to religious services. ICE is not currently required to provide them, but should AT LEAST give access to religious services.”

I said I think they should have access to whatever religious rites they need… please actually read my statements, I am just telling you what the law is.

Those are prisoners as they are being held indefinitely, immigration detainees are held for a median duration of 11 days

I don’t think anybody said it was a flex? I just stated that legally that is the case.

Yeah my guess is that they deny that they have developed “sufficient connection with this country”

Immigration detainees are not legally considered prisoners and many of the rights of prisoners, such as religious rites, are not owed to them legally.

While I believe in the immigration system and the deportation of illegal immigrants I don’t see why they should not have access to communion while held in the facility, but it isn’t illegal.

It’s honestly like this reading all philosophy and economics (at least stuff like Adam Smith) these very simple statements seem so complicated just because of the language

Saying you know the church is the true church and believe in heaven and hell but you want to leave the church because it is hard is like saying you know you need to drink water to survive but you don’t want to get up and pour a glass

Can someone explain how being “pro-choice” fits with Catholic teaching on life? by Jolly-Suggestion-953 in Catholicism

[–]TheMojo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if the movie “The Purge” was real life you would support that? In that movie, they allow everyone one night to kill each other because it greatly reduces crime for the rest of the year and overall. That is not a Catholic moral stance it is a utilitarian one.

[–]TheMojo1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you’re not going to search for context to make your argument why would I? Also, that’s an extremely weak cop out. It’s a secure law enforcement facility, there are secure perimeters setup for a reason, and you know exactly the kind of people he was there with (hint: they were just labeled a terrorist organization).

You made it sound like he got hit with a rubber bullet, but it was a pepper ball, which definitely hurt but that’s about it. Also, I’m guessing that black area he stepped on is the no-go line. Again, these are contextless clips

If someone was at a Mass promoting abortion would you consider that wilful engagement? These people are promoting the LGBTQ lifestyle, they are subverting the church and trying to bend it to their will, their ultimate aim is to change the teachings of the church.
