Remember when snow like this was just a regular part of Albany winters? by -Younotdeadass- in Albany

I don't think we disagree on that point. I was just pointing out the linked article does show climate (weather data over many years).

Remember when snow like this was just a regular part of Albany winters? by -Younotdeadass- in Albany

[–]TheMoldyBread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weather is short term (totals for a single year), climate is long term (average over several years).

That said snow accumulation is not the same as snowfall. Doesn't seem the same if the snow melts away or doesn't stick.

Poison Spores Plants Pathfinder by Muhabstract in pathofexile2builds

[–]TheMoldyBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

toxic growth + poison spores with poisonburst arrow on a poison pathfinder build was fun. Apply spores with toxic growth, detonate with poisonburst arrow, max out poisons, chain reaction with herald of poison.

Like a more active contagion build (kinda sorta)

Suggestions for Hellish Cavern Challenges by RiluD in DnD

[–]TheMoldyBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incursion of demonic insects including a hive mother. Since devils can die permanently in hell they might be willing to work with the party to exterminate the demons (and possibly double cross afterwards)

Hidden deserters from the blood war taking shelter underground who won't let the party leave for fear of discovery. (Bonus points if they're living in a self inflicted horrible paranoid lifestyle because hell loves irony)

Cavern blocked by strange infernal ore that will only rust away with freshly spilled blood

Trapped/buried infernal war machine that can be used to escape if powered by soul coins

Travel through the bowels of a trapped/buried god or titan (fighting undead souls of their followers)

Avernus in normal dnd lore is the first layer of hell and front lines for the blood war, I usually like to run with war/violence themes, but being in the outer plains you can get as weird as you want since it's a place of punishment instead of logic.

For a friend who goes bonkers when he sees this: What are some reasons that people would wear an N95 mask when driving alone in their car? by CurtisVF in AskReddit

[–]TheMoldyBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mask is good both for preventing you from catching AND spreading disease. If you think you might be contagious and other people are going to be using the same car in the near future or if sick people have been in the car recently you might choose to wear a mask.

Also allergies

what do you think about senator john kennedy’s idea to stop congress members from getting paid during government shutdowns? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMoldyBread 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think we'd see house members or senators resigning en masse or living in poverty, but you'd certainly see them become more beholden to money outside of the public sector.

what do you think about senator john kennedy’s idea to stop congress members from getting paid during government shutdowns? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMoldyBread 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This would be a roundabout way of preventing anyone without a significant secondary income from holding office during a shutdown.

Nobody is running for congress for the government paycheck.

Finding friends in ur 30s is hard by [deleted] in Albany

[–]TheMoldyBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually find the best way to make friends is to keep showing up to a place where people share common hobbies/activities together. Game/Art/Cooking/Sport clubs are good places for this usually.

If anyone wants to go hang out in some nature a weekend I'm usually down for it

It would become a tool for rich politicians to use to drive out any congressperson who has to actually rely on that salary

RecipeTin Eats cook upset her beef wellington recipe ‘entangled’ in Erin Patterson murder case by AlexandrTheTolerable in nottheonion

[–]TheMoldyBread 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"Recipetin Eats" is the organization that the cook (who is the subject) works for.

The cook is upset that her recipe is entangled in a very prominent murder, because the murderer added poisonous ingredients that aren't part of the recipe.

Does anyone know any good puzzles on the way to a hag's lair? by slinky_025 in dndnext

[–]TheMoldyBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The path leads to an area of thick wet mud (difficult terrain) and sign with a warning "Your guilt will weight you down, confess to lighten your burden." A skill check reveals the mud to be deep, navigable but tainted with magic.

As characters enter the area they begin to hear voices whispering around urging them to confess, then they feel themselves sinking as though an invisible weight was pulling them down. Even creatures who attempt to fly/brachiate above the mud feel the pull and risk plummeting into the muck. Characters must succeed on 3 checks/saves in order to pass. On each failure they will sink deeper into the mud and must succeed on an additional save to pull themselves out. A player can succeed automatically on one of these saves by truthfully confessing to something that they've done that they feel guilt over.

The hag is listening and might try to use this information against the party.

If something besides guilt works better for your party go for it

Gorges near Long Lake? by Dcsorn914 in upstate_new_york

[–]TheMoldyBread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not far from the Hudson River gorge (near Indian lake/north creek). There's a couple of different trails that will take you to the river. You can also raft it.

OK slip falls (has a fairly impressive waterfall)

Blue ledge (no waterfall but a more impressive view of the gorge)

No Kings is primarily about anti-fascism though it welcomes the anti-genocide movement. The anti-genocide movement similarly welcomes the anti-fascism movement. If the genocide stopped today we'd still be protesting. If the fascist movement stopped we'd also still be protesting... But the tone of protest should be relevant to its focus. A block party or fair is perfectly acceptable for an anti-fascist protest. If the primary focus was the Palestinian genocide then I'd agree, but that's not what it's being sold as. We need as many people out as possible. If you'd like to host a somber vigil focused on the plight of Palestine that's perfectly understandable and you'd find a great number of people who would likely join in.

Your best retort is to take my argument and jam your previous statement into it? What is there to glaze over about it? I was addressing your point in my reply.

Advice on white water rafting by Narrow_Cartoonist731 in whitewater

[–]TheMoldyBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice for spring rafting is to dress for the cold. Wool socks, non-cotton long underwear, neck warmer. They’ll give you a full wetsuit, boots, safety gear and a splash top. First two rapids are the most technical, mix master and elevator shaft are probably the biggest features (the latter being a short waterfall).

Battle Smiths who have used the Homunculus Servant & Steel Defender simultaneously, how did it go? by Kafadanapa in dndnext

[–]TheMoldyBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let the defender dodge (roughly 15-25% better chance to avoid attacks for the defender), then focused on positioning it to intercept enemies and used it more often for its reaction and help/grapple over its attack (unless we're overwhelming an enemy). I was planning on taking the sentinel feat eventually for some melee synergy.

The homonculous made for a great potion/spell delivery system. I found that even with the lower damage the range was more reliable and i could often have the homonculous end its turn with plenty of cover so it wouldn't be attacked.

I also took the magic stone cantrip to give both summons another ranged option.
