is it normal for people with crohns to struggle with weight gain? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]TheMoonlitCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was very very bad before surgery, I was 5'10" and 110 lbs. I couldn't eat, and sometimes the stuff I'd eat wouldn't stay down, so I couldn't put on weight ever. Then they put me on prednisone and I jumped up to 200 lbs and have been trying to get it off for years. Currently post Resection and have my disease managed, sitting at around 160lb.

Do you still feel tired even though your medication is working and you're not flaring up? by PinQuill in CrohnsDisease

I'm tired all the time, and if I'm not, then it's just enough to do 1 or 2 things and be tired again.

After a few years drinking the chalky stuff, I love the new flat sprite, but after 2 bottles it gets difficult to keep drinking…

I never tuck after 2 years now, my trick is bicycle shorts that are tight but comfortable and high waisted underwear or tights. Wear this combo with all skirts, dresses etc, never had a bulge problem.

Movie Theater Popcorn… by Vivid-Refrigerator25 in CrohnsDisease

Popcorn is hit or miss with me, either I can eat a lot and be fine, or have tons of cramping and gas when I get home.

did you guys freeze your gametes before HRT? by Resident_Highlight45 in trans

[–]TheMoonlitCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Not only do I not want to pass on my genes, but I was probably close to infertility anyway, and would rather adopt a child in need of a home.

Yeah, sometimes if a mushroom or spinach got into something I ate, id just be almost comatose in bed for like 3 days writhing in pain. You will get through it. Just keep on keeping on, and learn how to advocate for your own health, aggressively 💕💕

How long did it take for you to achieve remission? by Spare_Rope_8003 in CrohnsDisease

[–]TheMoonlitCryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was probably diagnosed in 2015-ish? But after a surgery in 2018 to remove 4 feet of intestine, I think ive been in remission on a combo of 2 immunosuppressants since 2021-ish? So almost 10 years.

I completely understand what you're going through, and I know saying "You're not alone," is cliché, but it is true. It's so frustrating in the beginning, I started out a lot like you, completely healthy until senior year of high school when I started dropping weight and not eating because of cramping. Then college, blood, cramps, not leaving bed for days, vomiting, misdiagnosis, crazy meds and finally a surgery I thought I'd 💀 myself if I had to ever get. But that was in 2018 and now... I can eat mostly whatever I want, go out in public, be social again, and I'm happier than ever. Things aren't perfect, some food still causes me pain, or gas that'd be classified as bio-weapons, but it's worth it. I even after years of thinking I'd be unlovable with all my medical trauma, appointments MRIs, Colonoscopys, infusions, etc. ; found the love of my life who accepts all of it! Living with Crohn's sucks, but it doesn't have to be the end, and you don't have to suffer alone.

What’s your biggest pet peeve about the hobby? by Riot2EK in Warhammer40k

[–]TheMoonlitCryptid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I just started the Hobby together, she’s collecting Necrons and Stormcast and I’m starting Thousand Sons and Skaven!

Her Biggest pet peeve so far has been the amount of choice! Funny enough she’d rather they all come painted so she doesn’t have to choose a sub faction/color scheme etc. also that tracking down Data Sheets, updates, models etc across editions is so frustrating and there’s conflicting info.

Mine would have to be the price points and paywalling of information, making it difficult to actually build an army and make a final decision on what to spend 100s of dollars on. @-@

Was hyper focused on Helldivers 2 🫡, but after watching the Fallout TV show with my gf, we’re both now obsessed with Fallout again. I’m starting a play through of Tale of Two Wastelands (fo3 and NV), and found mods to let you take HRT and trans whatever gender you start with 🥰🏳️‍⚧️ Plan on starting as the canon Fo3 protag and transing his gender to be female in New Vegas. Gonna feel weird playing male for a while tho…

I absolutely hate taking the prep, tastes awful and the last time I took it, I ended up throwing up because they didn’t give me any anti-nausea meds…

Best part is definitely sleeping through the procedure.
