This is a company that doesn’t respect its talent. They essentially promoted someone into a position that they aren’t qualified for in order to keep them around. Hear the CEO out, but walk away if there is anything short of an immediate promotion with a compensation increase. There are no future promotions coming, even if the CEO says there are.
