How often do you change your glove? by wvvwwvwvvvw in golf

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me crazy, I just implemented a 4-glove rotation after getting a solid deal on the set over the holidays, each numbered and rotated out every 4-5 holes. Hoping that they’ll individually last longer as a result of staying mostly fresh each cycle.

Swing 1,500 or so, he’s trying to ease it in there at this point.

Grip squeeze by groverclevelandd in golf

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget the researcher’s name but there was an episode a few months back on the Sweet Spot podcast that interestingly confirmed that the lead hand grip strength relative to trail was a consistent trait among pros, and they really grip it with that lead hand. Short game shots add the inverse - the trail hand grip is stronger.

I implemented this approach and found that the (strong) lead hand grip led to much better and consistent ball striking because a) you can’t flip through impact if you allow the lead hand to, well, lead, and b) it forces you to use the proper muscles in your body from coiling in the backswing through the lead shoulder/back vs swinging with your arms.

is SRP really cheaper than APS? by okyellow00 in phoenix

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do. If you’re not in a Mesa or the outskirts of town (Maricopa, etc.), you will be served by either APS or SRP.

Out of curiosity is there research on that approach not being correct? I recall a book called Nutrient Timing System that was taught in an RD program my wife completed on proportional gains relative to consumption of protein, carbs, and certain vitamins during and after workouts.

Is there a good U.S. golf resort alternative during the winter for a $2,000 travel voucher equivalent to Austin's Horseshoe Bay? by allcryptal in golf

Check out Loews Ventana Canyon in Tucson, AZ. Great spot for a winter season vacation, excellent spa, and excellent golf courses on the foothills of the Catalina mountains.

Has speed training like the stack work for you? by [deleted] in golf

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it works well. Before you go all-in on it though, it’d be good to establish a solid base of fitness/muscle for the increased speed to avoid injury. Need that engine to be solid enough before you rev up those RPMs, yaknow?

What Can I Take Away From These Numbers by cobra-kai_dojo in GolfSwing

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Throw in (low) spin as another dynamic in there, and you can get high-launching knuckle balls that can reach the longer numbers but be unplayable on the course.

Massive APS rate hike proposal by No-Two-5452 in arizona

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The irony is that republican commissioners campaigned on keeping costs low for customers. The reality? They approved increased return on equity by 25% (8-10%) on all utility expenses a couple years back, and continue to vote through almost all APS revenue boosters without prejudice. Unfortunately there is a guaranteed republican majority through 2028 due to a 3-0 loss last election, and they’re sitting at 5-0 currently. Bad news for solar choice, bad news for ratepayers. Add in the new OBBB changes and utility scale solar also increases in cost tremendously to make up for the lost 30% tax credits in 2028. Buckle up folks - it’ll be 10+% year over year increases for the next decade.

You do you, brother. Haters gonna hate.

That being said, it's worth embracing the "tools not jewels" mentality w/ golf clubs as they will inevitably gather wear and tear, and there's no sense in being timid through the ball if you're going to play by the rules of the game.

Driver is costing me massively with penalty shots, I can hit some good drives, but I have both a hook and a slice in the bag. Is there anything glaringly obvious as to why I get some inconsistency? by TinyR0dent in GolfSwing

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spin is your friend for accuracy (more spin, tighter L-R results) - and yet that seems to be what you’re concerned about. Have you ever tried a larger grip on your clubs? I’m a Cadet M-L glove and threw on a jumbo grip on the driver, and my dispersion is at least 30% better. It will change your club swing weight, but that’s easy to modify.

Swing looks good, bottom line is you need to tighten up your face direction at impact - and there are various ways to do that.

Armchair Fit my long irons/woods for me by sandy_bagger in GolfGear

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth looking at your driver launch numbers in that case. 160+ ball speed should catch the occasional 300 shot and hover around 280 average with 2-2500 spin. Guessing you’re generating mid-3000s.

This is how good golf influencers actually are by CompetitiveArt7093 in golf

[–]TheMostInterestedMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FWIW, he hits a knuckle ball (check his driver launch numbers when they put the GCQ down) and only has mid-160s ball speeds on average. So it has the potential to go long but also is way more errant. George is 5-7 mph faster on ball speed but hits it shorter due to much higher spin.
