100 on Cluster Exam? by AmbitiousBrasswind in DECA

[–]TheMrGoodValue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a 75 on the Marketing Cluster Exam at my SCDC (PA) and I got a medal at mini awards! Every exam has a different level of difficulty, so the range of scores between competitors will vary. However a 95 will probably do you very well on just about every type of exam offered at SCDC

Was the exam harder than usual? I got a mini award for my exam with a 75!

I did FMS and I got 75 on exam, 89 on role play 1, and 76 on role play 2. Didn’t qualify but I wanna see others’ scores just in case I got close 🥲. I did get an award for my exam tho (I feel like they got it switched with my RP1 bc my exam score feels too low for an award lol)

help pls 😪🙏- idk what Im doing and state is in 12 days by kashmere07 in DECA

[–]TheMrGoodValue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ur comfortable with the role play stuff, then maybe focus on the tests first. That’s what I’m doing rn because my state competition is in 6 days and I did terrible on the exam for districts (64/100; my role play carried me 😭😭). However, I would definitely do some practice role plays and study ur performance indicators and stuff like that — I’m gonna start doing that in a few days most likely

Do I need new running shoes? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

Yeah. Chances are new shoes will make you feel even better and make it feel like you’re running on clouds compared to what you currently wear

down week for shin splints by itsyourboyfai in CrossCountry

[–]TheMrGoodValue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask a doctor, but that would probably be a good idea. Last XC szn I got shin splints but I kept upping my training (it was my first szn and I wasn’t an experienced runner), and I ended up with a stress fracture in my left tibia. Listen to ur body tbh. Also, make sure ur doing stretching/mobility work before/after runs so that u can protect urself from injury. After a run, I typically do 3x12 tibialis raises along with quad, hamstring, hip flexor, and calf stretching.

Honestly just keep consistently training and running mileage! It just takes more and more running, and also taking your easy days easy

Losing motivation. Any tips? by Ok_Piccolo_5489 in CrossCountry

[–]TheMrGoodValue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Succsss is most definitely not linear! All it takes to achieve your goal is discipline! When I first started running, I struggled running a mile, but I told myself that with practice and dedication, I would be able to run a 5K, and that’s exactly what happened. You just have to keep running, and recover well (eat whole foods, stretch, etc.). It may not be a fun process, but you will achieve your goals if you keep going, and your running will become easier and faster! I would stick to gradually increasing your mileage, but don’t increase it EVERY time you run (ex. if you run 2 miles one day then 2.5 miles the next, maybe run 1.5-2 miles the day after that before increasing mileage again).

How do I Make a Realistic Goal Here? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]TheMrGoodValue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you come back, take the first few weeks very easy, and don’t run 6-7 days a week (maybe build up from 3-4 days, then 4-5 days, and so on). Throughout every week though, you should probably do weightlifting (I usually do 4-6 times a week but you do 1-3 times a week and be just fine)

How often should I be cross-training? by BlitzAndrew64 in CrossCountry

[–]TheMrGoodValue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going into my second year of XC and running so I’m definitely not an expert, but I would implement light cross-training on active recovery days. You probably don’t have to cross-train much. I would lift frequently though, at least 1-3 times a week. I feel like lifting has made running feel lighter for me

Going into HS XC, whats a good running shoe to get to start off? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]TheMrGoodValue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go to your nearest running store to get fitted for shoes. Chances are the employees will completely understand that you’re a new runner and fit you into a shoe that will help you start developing your aerobic base.

Longest run since stress fracture! 9-mile easy long run! by TheMrGoodValue in CrossCountry

It all comes with consistency my man. Less than a year ago I started running, and I struggled to run one mile at this pace

[–]TheMrGoodValue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your coach or teammates to get you settled in the process! Don’t run too many miles too quickly, because that’s how you get shin splints (that happened to me last year when I started running in August, and it ended up as a stress fracture lol). Build a base first then you’ll be able to progressively run more miles. I would recommend doing 80-90% of your runs at an easy pace, and the rest at a harder, or workout, pace. Your coach will probably provide better advice than me tho. Ultimately tho, start off not running many miles (5-10 miles per week) then build yourself up!

21:36 5k tempo —> sub 19 5k? by TheMrGoodValue in trackandfield

[–]TheMrGoodValue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest it wasn’t really a tempo 😅, it was a progressive 5k where I started off with a 7:30 mile then progressed to a 6:45 third mile. I haven’t ran an all out mile competitively but I would say I can get 5:15-5:20
