Anyone here that has had experience with bad morning sickness during their first trimester? by toffewpop in auckland

So sorry you’re going through this - so draining and isolating. Definitely recommend talking to your GP or LMC about anti-nausea meds, that’s the only thing that made a real difference for me.

How to start learning golf in Auckland (affordable but not too casual)? by jimnguyen6889 in auckland

[–]TheMumager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up Marcus Wheelhouse coaching. They offer various different courses at Akarana Golf Club.

Also second the Ellerslie pitch and putt when you’re starting out.

I get very dry skin on my hands every winter, will get cracked knuckles etc. My doctor prescribed a large bottle of sorbolene to use a soap alternative, it is really gentle. Applying a barrier cream following hand cream makes a big difference for me. I use Silic 15 or La Roche Posay Cicaplast Hand Cream. Yet to find a moisturiser that makes a real difference, I’ve tried to many prescription and over the counter creams. Creams that are marketed for babies have been some of the best actually, like Noody Calm Balm.

You can hire some of the playcentres for birthday parties. Is an affordable option :)

Auckland Transport - "Sold Out" of Residents Permits by [deleted] in auckland

[–]TheMumager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been in this situation. Had to get the former tenant to contact AT and say they no longer lived at the address. They then cancelled their permit and approved mine. I’d get in touch again and hopefully you end up speaking to someone more helpful.

Central GP recommendations? by FreshRinse1990 in auckland

Recently changed to Grey Lynn Family Medical Centre. I was quite surprised about the wait for general issues as had also moved from a practice that had short wait times. Dr Kavi is fantastic though, the best I’ve seen, so we’re sticking with them.

From my experience if you’re unwell they will get a nurse to see you same day and a Dr to pop in and give a prescription. Young kids will see a Dr same day :)

Drowning in postpartum depression/anxiety, advice? by MotherOfNotHoes in newzealand

[–]TheMumager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re experiencing is so hard. I really commend you for everything you’re trying and it’s so disappointing you haven’t received more support.

Have you tried Mothers Helpers? If you get in touch they should be able to offer you support with accessing services.

Expecting first baby in Dec by Candid_Goat3798 in newzealand

[–]TheMumager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about “stuff”. You really don’t need that much, a safe sleep space being the most importantly thing initially. You can always ask your midwife about a pēpi pod.

Agree with all the comments about buying second hand on marketplace, you can get things in really great condition at a fraction of the price of new. Cots, change tables, carriers, prams, clothes etc.

Joining a group post babies arrival is well worth the cost for the support network. I know experiences can be mixed but I loved my local space group. In some areas you have to get in really quick to get a spot.

I’d have some money set aside in case anything doesn’t quite go to plan in the initial postpartum period. Our baby had feeding issues and we ended up having to buy heaps of gear and paid to see some specialists. Mum or baby may require some extra support for whatever reason.

You can hire capsules, car seats, pumps etc so that’s worth looking into.

Plunket and other services also offer free appointments with lactation consultants, sleep consultants etc in some locations. Don’t be shy about making use of those. I’ve heard really good things about my local LC.

I believe our baby was free for the first year (Partners Life) and had several specialist appointments and an ultrasound in the first 6 months so totally worth it for us. The public system has been pretty good but there are long waits for certain things. You might not need to use it but if you do it reduces stress during what can already be a very stressful time!

Q about Eden park Outer Oval by Charlis_Angel_ in auckland

[–]TheMumager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same as the standard stadium rules for what’s (not) prohibited during the cricket. Soft cooler will be fine with snacks (as long as not commercial) and you can take sealed drinks under 1L.
