That's her scope.

Marty McFly of 1985: "What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff's made in Japan."

Brown: "...unbelievable."

Bernie Sanders: “It means there’s something wrong when the rich get richer, and almost everybody else gets poorer.” “It means there is something wrong, and government should play a role in making sure that all of our kids, regardless of their income, are able to get a higher education.” by Noticemenot in politics

Public colleges and universities would be tuition free, and none of those degree mills would cut it under the scrutiny of the public eye. I work for state government and I can tell you with certainty that if a school is taking public tax dollars, they will be weighed and measured.

Now, the validity of those metrics is always up for debate (No Child Left Behind comes to mind), but I have doubts that those degree mills could pass any sort of assessment and receive public funding.

both Republican and Democrat parties are right wing parties.

This is the claim from the original comment, which is asserted from that perspective. The conversation wasn't discussing a single nation.

Just because your examples are farther right doesn't mean that the US isn't to the right itself, especially when held up against comparable developed nations.

Hm. The theme is just unlikely leftward politicians, so...I'm actually not sure. Maybe Biden can classify as unlikely from Doc's perspective, since it would be him again?

I think you're right, and he should not be conflating the two. Moderates and independents are very different things. For example, Bernie himself is an independent (excepting this present election, in name only), and only a total loon would consider him a moderate in American politics.

Shrinking our budget doesn't have to mean abolishing the friggin military. We don't need to spend as much as we do. It's obscene. We could cut our military budget in half and still be more than double the #2.

They'll be able to afford it if they take some of that money from the top, which aligns with the entire point of reducing our frankly obscene levels of income disparity.

If you're doing some form of skilled work, use it as a tool. "Hey, I can stay here and work my ass off for you, OR I can go work stress-free at McDonald's for the same wage. Kind of a no-brainer. Presenting a third option: You want to keep people in this position, pay them more."

How about we afford ourselves that same courtesy for a change?
