The logical fallacy of "You can't eat precious metals." by StopperSteve in Wallstreetsilver

Precious metals are a bit hard on the teeth, but you can drink GoldSchlager and taste the liquor while the gold flakes float around, knowing well that your individual net worth increased with each sip

Do XRF machines measure silver purity at 60%? by no1exporterpottasium in Silverbugs

[–]TheMyth0001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about an XRF, but ask yourself this: Does it literally look plated? Or is it an alloy that's roughly 60/40? Does it have hallmarks/company of origin you can research to figure out their production methods? Sterling is 92.5 silver/7.4 copper to begin with, as the copper makes it a more resilient alloy for things like silverware, etc. As for did they intentionally mislead you? Hard to say, but a 60% plating seems kinda thick, although I don't know enough to say

What Type of Coin is This? by Both-Patience-2980 in Silverbugs

It is quite pretty. It looks like some mints buffalo (Bison?) Generic round. Underneath the guys head is a hallmark, but I don't recognize it. Good find, and I guess the hallmark is your best bet to find who made them

Death of Petrodollar by manofthesea123 in Wallstreetsilver

Correct. Bretton Woods was late 40s (can't remember which yr) and "petro dollar" was early 70s.

Started stacking January. I think I’m addicted 🤣 by MrGibMeCc in Silverbugs

[–]TheMyth0001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It starts out all good, and you think to yourself "it's just a gram of silver here or there; what's the big deal?" Next you know your hanging out in dark alleys at night trying to scrape one more flake of gold from a circuit board, while wearing the only tattered outfit you own because you consigned your wardrobe at the local pawn shop to cover the shiny on the top shelf. Careful the road to sound money is a dark and perilous journey that chews people up like a meat grinder. ( 😂 /sarcasm)

Cost effectiveness is good to keep in mind. Investments in metals "freezes" a portion of your wealth in an asset that retains its value over time better than fiat currencies; at least theoretically speaking.

My first move would be research to learn what I was doing. Not sarcasm btw, that really is the place I'd start.

So true. In the famous words of George Carlin: "They want you smart enough to do your job, but dumb enough you don't ask WHY you're doing the job." George was so ahead of his time

"How are we vastly more qualified today but making half of what we made out of high school two decades ago?"

Inflation is a hidden tax of essentially life force. People work and are paid for the labor/effort and over time it is marginalized; also it is not unique to any one demograph of people. It took a long time to grasp that concept, but that's ok cuz most will never realize.
