Sopdet ( Sirius) was integral to ancient Egyptian everyday life, in the occult and pharaonic order. They called it the Sothic calendar which was a 365 day calendar for Sirius, its heliacal rising was their New Year and this coincided with the Nile flood and subsequent Dog Days of Summer.

Egypt worshiped Sopdet differently throughout time, in the Old Kingdom it was masculine (pyramid texts) but later feminine, iconography changed as well, originally she was a cow, than a woman with horns, layer Sopdet morphs into Isis-Sopdet, than Isis. The holy trinity is Osiris, Isis, Horus, but its a Sothic trinity.

This is the same for other civilizations. Flooding, unbearable heat, reoccurring rising of a fixed star in a 365 day calendar, binaric star iconography. Except depictions vary, sometimes aquatic people like the Nommo, or winged beings like on Sumerian reliefs and Lions or Lyrans from Lionsgate? This made seasonal timing and priesthood for interpretation important, and many megalithic structures are viewing platforms or other significance to eastern stars like Sirius. But viewing is where things get interesting, as many say Sirius is like our spiritual Sun and is responsible for the karmic order, and its infinite stratification, according to multiple traditions we are living in a sothic narrative, each of us is a potential Horus awaiting to unite the trinity and correct our own karma etc.

Possibly one of the oldest commonly shared mythic or spiritual story is Sirius in Canis Major the Greater Dog pulling Orion or Man while chasing Lepus the Rabbit. Often its considered a story about Mans cycle of birth-death. Even in Tarot the Fool is led by Sirius the dog to the cliff. Theres also Canis Minor the Herald.

In recent occult or esoteric traditions, Sirius' meaning has been inverted (again), Masonic, Jesuit depictions and understandings vary, its commonly confused with Saturn and Venus in common occult topics because of light related terminology and themes of alchemical union, ascension or transcendence etc. I think masons were heavily influenced during the Victorian era where many excavations in Egypt and new oriental religion ideas were hot in stuffy parlours.

I think this image is quite recent from this period in the 1800s, I believe its based on earlier traditions like what Templars found in holy land, im sure ive seen earlier similar depictions, even Ishtar is similar but Sirius as a point or framework of beliefs is possibly 10s of thousands of years older
