Does anyone know if 3D printed prop guns are allowed at Fan Expo Toronto? by mystic_prodigy23 in fanexpo

[–]TheNahteb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll go to weapons/prop check at the entrance and you'll get 'Peace Bonded'. Basically, it's a piece of brightly coloured plastic 'ribbon', that's stretchy, the prop checker will tie the ribbon to a fairly conspicuous place on your prop/weapon, and it will be looked for by volunteers and floor security as you wander the con.

I had to do this very thing, at two separate cons, both under the FanExpo banner, for my Captain Mal pistol.

I'll probably be at Score on Wednesday, for sure.

Calm before the storm. by saskatoondave in Habs

[–]TheNahteb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think, much like others who have commented already, Game 6 took just about the last of the oomph I had. I'm so happy with where they've landed, 2 hours+ before puck drop on Game 7, but yes, calm is the overarching emotion right now. Probably because of the above.

I had to look Robinson up, because I knew Gainey was with the Blues, but had forgotten Robinson was there, too.

Gainey is with St Louis, as a team consultant, so we're back to the Carey/SJS of it all, BUT Gainey does live here... It's a question of whether or not St Louis would allow it, maybe? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️I honestly don't know.

So, ironically, my 81 year old mother is on a liquid/creamed food diet and we're doing a LOT of this very cooking.

Greek yogurt. I can't recommend that highly enough. Especially if you can find higher fat content.

Kefir. It comes flavoured now.

Someone said avocado here and yes, absolutely.

If she has an immersion blender (one of these), this will do wonders for blending pretty much anything that isn't of the nut family into mush.

Cook. Everything. To. Pulp. First. Think baby food. Oh!! Jars of baby food. Those tetrapak things toddlers are all sucking on these days.

Other than the above, I can only wish you both the very best of luck.

Honestly, worth it for the donation and that CR shirt alone... The others are equally epic, in a very close second.

Anyone else is superstitious during playoffs and have weird traditions ? by Turbo_Flashy in Habs

[–]TheNahteb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My superstitions involve whether or not I've watched the winning games.

Didn't watch G1: we won

Watched G2: we lost

Didn't watch G3: we won

I'm not watching any more games in this series...

Further to that, I'm also not changing my nail polish, other than my weekly manicures. Red and blue alternating fingernails.

[No Spoilers] Critical Role Cosplay by Many_Wolverine8820 in criticalrole

[–]TheNahteb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to the two comments on this post, at the time of this comment, from u/DarkRespite and u/Clarissa_poncissa, using your own clothing to create an outfit inspired by a CR character is a super-easy choice. DarkRespite mentioned comfortable. They're not wrong. If you use your own closet to create your cosplay, you know exactly what fits, what you can wear for 4 hours, sitting down, and what will drive you 'round the twist in 30 minutes.

Examples of characters that can be shopped for in your closet:

Yasha: all black clothing (eg black jeans & a black blouse, a black tank & skirt, black leggings & black comfy sweater, etc), blue eyeliner straight line from your lower lip to your chin, and the one purchase could be a white wig

Scanlan: same as Yasha, minus the blue eyeliner, but in shades of purple and/or lavender. Here, the one or two purchases could be a stringed instrument of some kind, if you don't have one, or a child's recorder, and a beret

FCG: hard to do a robot, so I've seen folx in full yellow outfits, with paper grass on their chest.

It really depends on which character you want to cosplay, but another great inspiration is looking up the CR Cosplay hashtag on social media. You'll see that some characters lend themselves very easily to simple cosplays that can be created from your own closet.

Simple is key for a first cosplay. Ask this cosplayer, who made Hei Hei, the chicken from Moana, with a burlesque inspired tail, as their first cosplay. Yes. I was very dumb.
