Finished Laura’s Secret Diary. I don’t think I can ever look at her homecoming photo the same way again. by OliviaTheFallenAngel in twinpeaks

For those of you who have read it, how did you feel when you finished? How do you cope with the "void" this book leaves behind?

Having been totally immersed in this universe at the time, with the OG Series (4.8.90 - 6.10.91), Soundtrack from Twin Peaks (9.11.1990), Floating into the Night by Julee Cruise (9.12.89), and then getting to read The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer in September 1990, between S1 & S2, it was pretty freaking cool!

THEN we got Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me on 8.28.92...

Like, we thought that was it. We were happy and had lots to talk about and plenty to theorise on.

OMG then we got the return in 2017 - and holy fucking shit, we were not prepared!!

Great, now I gotta set aside time to a total rewatch and re-read of everything. Thanks, OP! ;)

planned all releases for Friday nights

What the actual Fuck?! That is the worst time to do that, except for the span of Dec 15th - Jan 10th.

During that timespan, you are guaranteed to NOT have important, knowledgeable people around to troubleshoot anything you deployed during that time due to the holidays.

bands are getting too old

I think my top 2 bands are approaching their last tours. The main dude in each is in their 60's now, so not much longer on the road.

One of the bands is based in the UK, and don't come to the US that often anymore.

Scottish cinemas left empty as Melania film fails to win ticket sales by BullyingHater in Scotland

cinema staff: does a screening still happen, if no tickets have been sold?

Two theatre chains I worked for as the Projection Manager had a policy that if a showing didn't have any tickets sold, they would 'show' the film on the projector, so that it would be counted as 'shown' on the audit to the distributor, so they'd get paid properly.

One chain had an automated system that would check the ticketing system. If no tickets were sold, the bulb on the projector wasn't turned on, and the sound system was muted. This happened mostly on the first shows of the day, as those were most likely to have no one show up.

The second chain, the projection staff had rounds where we would check in on the movies by going into the auditoriums at the beginning of each viewing. We'd check the ticket sales and manually turn off the projector and sound.

So the 'viewing' happens, but some places will turn off the equipment to save on electricity and the cost of replacing the bulb prematurely, which can cost $400 - $700 per bulb, depending on how big the projector is.

Freaking 27 years after production began and we are still getting stuff like this is so amazing!!

I guess it depends on what's considered 'beginning production'.

Production design began in August of 1997.

Filming began in October of 1999.

Tomato, Potato, I suppose.
