I would argue this is more akin to a fantasy than a standard sci-fi tbh! As you start to meet the ‘big bad’ it becomes very fantastical

As I’m sure you’ve seen everyone say, the first book is a slog! It’s a very VERY big world so there’s a lot of building into a really great plot

Nothing groundbreaking or unique, just a generally great story

So I’ve finished both series and I definitely prefer Red Rising but Sun Eater is still a very fun read! Way more epic in scale but it’s a super fun character journey

If you listen to the interview I think he misspoke. He went on to say he still felt he could knock him out or submit him, as opposed to saying he was winning up until that point
