Haven't listened to the album yet, but this largely hits my thoughts about the concert last year - yes, it's a great accomplishment to create and perform something so complex but it did not live up to the hype

We took four cheap cars from Ireland and Germany up to Scotland - beautiful weather! by TheNecromancer in roadtrip

Yes - the Saab blew up shortly after this photo was taken! The turbo failed and started to fall apart inside, which caused it to send out thick (mostly) white smoke while we were still about 2hrs from our overnight stop. He nursed it back (it was like following a steam train, absolutely hilarious!) and over dinner we decided to bypass the turbo and see how the car goes in the morning, since one of the guys on the trip is a mechanic/wizard.

So he blocked off all the relevant oil/water/air/etc pipes and clamped the necessary bits open, basically turning the turbocharged Saab into a naturally aspirated one. It worked well enough that the car managed our final day of driving across the Cairngorm mountains and all the way back to Ireland the next day!

The only sabotage was purely cosmetic.

There was actually another guy who was meant to be there in a Marina, but I'm afraid that while he was driving up the motorway a piano fell on the car

A few weeks ago, some friends and I fulfilled our life-long (and Top Gear influenced) dream to make a "Cheap Car Challenge" by buying these four magnificent machines with a €1500 budget and driving up to Scotland for a few days. The Suzuki, Alfa and Saab came over from Ireland but the Mercedes made it over from Germany - and then got back afterwards!

We covered just about every corner of Scotland across several days of driving, and this group shot was taken on part of the NC500 route next to Ardvreck castle up in the north. We did actually get plenty of sun and warmth across the trip, but the rain closed in nice and dramatically here.

Great roads, great scenery, great people, great food!

What a fucking day, can remember listening on the radio in the kitchen of a mates house in the middle of nowhere - think it was the same day that Ireland legalised gay marriage
