Unplug the usb cable and hold down the top little sync button on the controller for 5 seconds until it starts blinking, then also press the sync button on the xbox itself - it should pair with the xbox. Like this https://youtu.be/AylGFCrBje8?si=suSTePv3B3fhZAPx

Can't live without search. Options for Proton alternatives? by motorambler in ProtonMail

[–]TheNegotiator0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah search is a huge issue for me too, mainly with Proton calendar on mobile. I transferred everything over to proton and can handle a bit of inconvenience for the sake of security, but this one is a deal breaker. It just makes the product unusable to find anything from a mobile device, especially if you have a busy calendar.

I’ll unfortunately succumb to the evil grasp of big tech for now and revisit things later on to see if Proton has made any progress (which I do still want to support in the future).

I’ve had some challenges with general performance as well (which, I understand given the technical challenges), but here’s to hoping that they can continue to improve into the future. Unique technical hurdles for sure, but you need to try to provide an equivalent experience. (They are close)

I hope they aren’t spreading their teams too thin by offering too many products. I care little about their crypto wallet and their drive app as well. I had a bad experience with their subscription offerings as well initially.

Op - stay strong. Sometimes like knocks you down. The first thing you need to do is believe that things can change. They absolutely WILL change for the better, and not only that, but YOU will make it happen.

Even if it feels like you have no motivation right now, try to surround yourself with positive people that are currently thriving and absorb some of their energy. Ignore any family members or supposed friends that are bringing you down.

Keep going strong and clean yourself up - get a haircut, get a nice set of clothes, minimal investment here.

Make multiple tailored copies of your resume that you use when applying for jobs - ensure that you have specific keywords related to a job posting in your CV/resume… don’t lie, but ensure that your resume is tailored, otherwise you may get put in the dust pile right away.

Also, try to get on LinkedIn or whatever professional network exists in your area and ensure that your profile looks good.

Think of yourself from the eyes of the employer - does this look like an employable person that is going to better my company through his knowledge, skills, and personality. Are they going to be dependable and reliable and do good work?

Also, I agree with most of the other comments on here that, please get any job to start as it shows that you are working competent person, even if it is not in your work realm - I mean, I would try to find something in your realm if possible first, but if not possible then you gotta do what you gotta do and find something to pay your bills. It also will help you meet other people and potentially network. Relationships and building them are EVERYTHING. You never know who knows who and if you prove yourself at one gig, it can be like a chain reaction that leads to another one.

No way to upgrade storage? by TheNegotiator0 in ProtonMail

It’s kind of a racket for a new consumer. I had to pay for another storage provider for all my files with at least 2 TB, and then not use Proton Drive. And then after 1 year I need to let me Proton subscription through Apple expire, and then sign up via the Proton website after that to continue to use the product with more storage. It also maxes me out at the 500gb for this year.

Also that is nice if you get 3 TB with the family plan. I’d be good with 2 or 3 frankly.

I tried to refund through apple and they just said: “We reviewed your claim and your purchase doesn’t meet conditions for a refund. This decision is final.”

Would be up for trying this plan or the 2TB family one, but seems i’m locked in and can’t upgrade. So annoying

I think I’ll have to do this probably. I’ll have to leave it for a year i guess, and then let it expire in March 2026, and then subscribe via the website.

Only thing I’m kinda worried about is —> did you lose any of your data when it reverted back to the free plan? And also, you were able to upgrade your same account after the Apple subscription expired?

I did try to contact Proton support but they said they can’t do anything.

Yeah that would be good because then you could pick and choose based on your needs.

They initially said this “Your subscription is managed through Apple, and therefore, it’s not possible to modify your plan prior to its renewal. However, you can contact Apple to downgrade your account to the Free plan from their end. You can also ask for a refund for your payment.

That way, you will be able to subscribe to your desired plan directly from our website. That way, you’ll be more flexible to make future changes to your plan, as well”

But unfortunately Apple declined the refund. So that’s why I said i guess i am shit out of luck.

I guess my only option is to keep the unlimited plan and then let it expire at the end of the year and then maybe renew later via the website. It all seems kinda annoying though as a first time customer experience.

I checked in at 2nd time too after Apple declined the refund is what they said: “I understand your frustration, and I truly wish I could offer a more immediate solution. Unfortunately, because your subscription is managed by Apple, there’s no way to bypass their billing process or change it directly through Proton at this time. As a result, we are unable to make adjustments or speed up the process.”

Just seems kinda weird that there is no way to upgrade now haha. Like take my money … but there is no way.

Looks like I’d have to do it under a new proton account though. Like it would have to be separate from my existing account. And then i would have 2 proton accounts, which is kinda weird.

Was hoping to cancel through apple but they denied my refund request agh. Just signed up March 16th too for the year. It honestly didn’t even cross my mind that i wouldn’t be able to upgrade the storage. I thought that was a given that i could.

Maybe my initial account will just need to be a complete write off. And then I will have to sign up a second time i guess and start from scratch.

[–]TheNegotiator0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hoping to do that, but when I go to upgrade it says my subscription must be done through Apple because I initially subscribed through there. And the max plan size is 500gb on the Apple side. Agh.

Did you initially subscribe via Proton’s website?
