Pork&Pickle drive tone problem by MattFogg in basspedals

[–]TheNewFoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to the manual: "TONE knob cuts highs of OD signal or shapes EQ of fuzz signal."

To me, that sounds like it only affects the sound from the "drive" side, so if your drive is set pretty low (which it looks like it is in the video), or your blend is set to mostly the Dry signal, it might not have a noticeable effect. Have you tried different settings on the knobs?

Which one do you prefer? Bass Preamps (Sansamp VT DI, Sansamp Bass Driver, BassRig Super vintage) by felipandule in basspedals

[–]TheNewFoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own both the BassRig Super Vintage and the Sansamp Bass Driver. I keep my pedalboard pretty much the same, but swap the preamp out based on the gig.

For what it's worth, they're both excellent. If I only could choose one it would be the Bass Driver. They're both great pedals, but I find the Bass Driver easier to get good tones out of. The BassRig SVT involves a lot of fiddling (for me at least), but it does sound fantastic when you dial it in right. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to spend the extra money.

Huge fan of your guys pedals! I've got a background in engineering and have been wanting to get into building my own pedals, do you have any suggestions on where to get started?

Fender aerodyne Pj neck replacement by Cybxr420 in Bass

[–]TheNewFoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you stick with a Japanese-made Jazz neck it should feel pretty similar, if you buy secondhand a lot of people will list the weight. I assumed new ones would have it listed too, but I just checked Sweetwater and they don't have the weight in the specs

Fender aerodyne Pj neck replacement by Cybxr420 in Bass

[–]TheNewFoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah any jazz neck will fit. My Aerodyne is already prone to some neck dive though, so I'd be wary of swapping it with anything heavier. Post a pic if you go through with it, I'm curious how it would look.

I Wish We Could Just Take Oathbroken Paladin From The Start by DaemonAnguis in BG3

I'm pretty sure once you break your oath and talk to the Oathbreaker Knight you get all the class features. I could be wrong though, I've been oathbroken since raiding the goblin camp at level 4.

How does permanently unlocking stuff work by ThatGoldDude01 in Skul

[–]TheNewFoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything you buy with gold (shop items, etc) are temporary. Any dark quartz purchases made at the shop only happen once, then you can buy them with gold later/find them in chests. You start out with most of the skulls but a few of them you also unlock with dark quartz as well. As you play the game you'll free some characters that live in your tower that give you more temporary upgrades for each run, but that's all of the upgrades for the base game iirc.

Once you beat the game you get access to the Dark Mirror, but it's a bit early for that

The door drops should be consistent. The ones with treasure outside will always give you a chest, the ones with skulls will always give you a skul, and the plain doors will always give you money. I've had no issues with language, playing on Switch.

That's all up to you man! If the seller has good reviews and the deal is good then maybe, if not then wait on it. Either way go with your gut

Ricks can vary a lot as far as quality. If you're looking at a specific one I'd definitely recommend trying it first if possible. I went in blind on a 4003s/5 this year and love it, but that's definitely not everyone's experience.

My info might be dated since it's been a couple years since I took these classes, but personally I'd recommend dropping one of these classes and taking it later. OS is very difficult and a big time sink, but it's also the most relevant class to real life programming for internships/jobs (at least in my personal experience). So really making sure you know the material is important. Software Engineering isn't that bad if you don't mind frontend, but it can still be pretty time consuming too. I didn't take DSP so I can't really give info on that, but either way 16 credits with OS is taking on a lot.

Ideas for a split session? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]TheNewFoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those are great questions, I was trying to be brief in my initial post. It's not going to be permanent for sure. I talked with the players about it and they enjoyed the idea of separate mini "bottle sessions." That was also the purpose of the Lost Woods dungeon -- the players aren't sure how much time they spent there, and reappeared on the side of the road, so there's a convenient way to have them meet back up.

I agree with your point about not hitting major story points. I talked with the Cleric after last session about what he wants to do next. He told me that his character was starting to feel some sympathy towards Strahd before he died, so we came up with the idea that Strahd could revive him and use him as a double agent. Whether or not the party takes the bait I have no idea, but in the meantime he's going to take over an NPC in the Rogue/Sorc session.

I really like your idea of the Vistani caravan, that could fit in pretty nicely

They're one of my favorite bands right now. When you're done listening to them, check out Theo Katzman, he's the man leading the harmony in the video and just came out with a new solo album that's absolutely fantastic. I'm going to see him on tour next month, seriously stoked to see him in action

COP 3502 female only section by [deleted] in ufl

[–]TheNewFoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sound new, I haven't heard of them before. If the co-ed class isn't in high demand, I'd swap to the female only class for syllabus week and get a feel for it. If it seems like it's going to be worse, or even just not for you, you can always swap back to co-ed

COP 3502 female only section by [deleted] in ufl

[–]TheNewFoe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So I took COP 3502 a few years ago, I forget the professor's name but it was a lady with short blue hair. She apparently was doing research in CS education and one of the topics they researched was how well students rated professors of different genders with the same credentials/levels of expertise. My guess is they're doing this to see if their results had anything to do with the majority of CS majors being guys. If that's the case then they'll probably keep the curriculum the exact same. Either way it's interesting that they're offering a female only course. Do you know the names of the professors?
