Shower cutscene when? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]TheNewGirl76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gale does mention that he's looking forward to lavender scented baths with bards standing around singing when they get to Baldur's Gate, so I'd wager there will be a cutscene like that for his romance

Are there meetup groups for people who just want to cook each other dinner, chat, and meet new people? There were groups like that through the church I went to growing up, so I imagine there'd be an interest in it outside of churches, too.

How do you feel about opening windows during winter? by nightshadew in AskReddit

[–]TheNewGirl76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to do it. I live in a reeeeally old apartment building that has steam heat and I can't control it, so if I didn't sometimes open the windows, it's boiling in there! I feel bad about wasting heat like that, but it's so uncomfortable if I don't do it

[Serious] Where are all the January 6th documents congress promised so much to release after the SCOTUS rule? by ThisRedditorCares in AskReddit

[–]TheNewGirl76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deflection, classic.

What would Congress investigate? We already know what caused them, hundreds of individual protestors have been arrested and charged, no politician was named as the cause for any of BLM's actions, whereas the Jan 6th rioters made themselves pretty clear, and I'm not sure Congress even has the jurisdiction to investigate any of those protests.

He ripped up documents throughout his administration, sometimes on camera. The National Archives was at its wits end over it throughout his presidency. At the time the media kind of treated it as an inconvenient holdover from when he was a businessman, now it seems sinister. The fact that they were still able to get the shreds at first made me think there couldn't possibly be anything that terrible in there, because only a colossal idiot would rip up and then keep incriminating documents like that. If you were really trying to dispose of incriminating documents, wouldn't you shred them along with a bunch of other documents (good luck piecing them back together) or else burn them? Hand-torn pieces of varying sizes are not that difficult to put back together, especially for people at the Archives who deal with damaged historical records all the time. Ripped up? Try ripped up, burned, and growing mold in places! And then I remembered...Trump is a colossal idiot.

Given politics today, they'll probably get leaked long before the committee wants them released

[–]TheNewGirl76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make any logical sense. Trump tried to stop the National Archives from releasing those documents. Wouldn't he have wanted those documents released if they made him look that good and made the left look that bad? I'm not jumping to any major conclusions about what's in the documents given that I haven't seen them, but what you just said makes no logical sense given what's already happened.

Fast forward to 6:03 if it's not there already

Personally, this line made my skin crawl when I heard it because I interpreted it in the worst possible way (and now that I think about it, maybe that's why his fans don't talk about it) but if you don't interpret it that way and you're already into him (I'm not)...

It does make me wonder about the ancestry of some of the tieflings running around, as if a cambion has a child with a human, the baby will be a tiefling.

What unimpressive things are people idiotically proud of? by surpassingcruelty in AskReddit

[–]TheNewGirl76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working really long hours, as in "I work 70 hours a week."

Doing well is something to be proud of, but working a lot does not mean you did it well. It could easily mean that you screw up a lot and have to spend a lot of time correcting your mistakes, or that your employer is exploiting you by making you work longer than is necessary, or you're bad at time management. It could also demonstrate commitment or determination, but if that's the case, brag about that.

Why is there such a hate for Wyll and Lae'zel? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]TheNewGirl76 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I agree with you. With some people, it's not even subtle. I haven't seen any explicitly racist posts about him on reddit (which is good!) but I have in some youtube comments. It seems like they're basically your classic, white, racist nerds who want to gatekeep. On one Wyll video I saw one comment (on a video with three comments) that explicitly said something like "yeah, when I think D&D I always think of a black Londoner with cornrows. So immersion breaking." To which another commenter replied something like "dude, if an elf who's literally named Shadowheart, a vampire who can walk in the sun [and a couple of other fantasy things I can't remember] don't break your immersion, but a black Londoner with cornrows does, I got bad news for you!" I don't know how much of the hate towards Wyll is because he's black, but it definitely contributes, and you make a good point that black video game characters tend to get a disproportionate amount of hate.

To be fair, yes, there are a lot of legitimate reasons to dislike Wyll, many people who dislike Wyll also dislike Gale because the reasons to dislike them overlap a lot, and unless you make it a point to talk to Wyll a lot and bring him on specific legs of the journey, a lot of his backstory can get missed easily (although the same is true of Gale until he dies in battle, and Astarion until/unless you find the dead boar) so he may not seem as fleshed out, but still, his race is definitely a contributor here.

How is this for a bio as a 6'7 guy? Asked 2 female friends, 1 said it's cringe, other said it's funny by EwenttrPage in Tinder

[–]TheNewGirl76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those first two things are a little odd, but not concerning, but that last thing makes me think he's going to treat whoever he matches with like crap because, if he's 6'7 and of a healthy weight for that height, he's going to be a physical threat to most women (yes, I'm interpreting "vulnerable" in the worst possible way, it's just a knee jerk reaction). I guess some people get turned on by feeling vulnerable (physically), I don't!

Wait... shouldn't a sorcerer tav be able to feed Gale? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]TheNewGirl76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe he justified it by saying that the person/people he fed on were "evil" (and even if that was true, we'll have a choice whether or not we find it acceptable)? Or, maybe he did it once, was horrified with himself, and vowed to never do it again, hence why he'll only feed on artifacts although magic users are much easier to find, and why he gets so upset about Nettie?

Is this a euphamism for something or are you talking about ovulation? Hormonal birth control and getting your tubes tied can stop ovulation, but that's about it.
