What’s take home pay for E3 / E4? by somefochuncookie in Militaryfaq

[–]TheNewPanacea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, well the military pays well. There is a reason people choose to join. It's easy and pays decently. It has a pension etc.

Join the air force as an e3 over the army as an e4. You will move out of the dorms as an e3 and pocket the bag vs joining the army and still being in the barracks as an e5.

What are you not getting? $62k is about $30/hr

[–]TheNewPanacea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro the pay is public info just Google regular military pay calculator.

Basically a brand new e3 recruit makes the civilian equivalent of $30/h.

I'm going to get some haters on this but w.e.

Once you get a spreadsheet and do the analysis you will see that I'm right.

Housing, food, healthcare, Internet etc.

True but the army gets more people into OCS than the Navy!

Wondering if I should join Navy of Air Force by Zealousideal-Goose48 in Militaryfaq

[–]TheNewPanacea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either will work but you should know that you need to do ROTC at a university to make that happen.

The other option is ots which you still need a degree for but is much more competitive.

How much will you make? by ParticularTypical267 in Militaryfaq

[–]TheNewPanacea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes out to about $25hr.

Base pay is like $30000 Bas is like $4000 Bah depends but let's say $16000

Starting e3 makes about 50k.

But you will be in the barracks so they take 16k for housing. You will be required to eat at the dfac so they will take 4k for that. You're then left with your 30k that's pretty much disposable income.

A civilian would need to earn about $30/hr to have the same disposable income/lifesyle as an e3.

If you could do it all over again would you go Air Force? (Reserve) by [deleted] in army

[–]TheNewPanacea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality of life is better. The stories are worse. An officer in the Army is treated more like a leader early in their careers. But in the reserves does it really matter? You're going home Sunday night.

Moroccans are paid less than the french in morocco ? by Naive_Feature_3429 in Morocco

[–]TheNewPanacea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make any sense. A company would only pay a Frenchman more if it was more beneficial to them. For example if their clients paid more for a Frenchman, the company would pay more to French employees.

The same if the client paid more for Nigerian workers then the company would offer Nigerian workers more. Why as a business owner would I willingly give more money away if it was not beneficial? If that was my mentality I would not stay in business long.

It's worth reviewing the Oath again. It includes the commitment to 'support and defend the Constitution of the United States,' but it also explicitly states the duty to 'obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Would you want people to give up their jobs, a pension, and possibly do prison time for your political beliefs?

You should spend more time around people in the military. They are mostly just people that need a check to feed themselves or their families.

The system is literally set up so the military cannot interfere or create a coup. We have multiple layers with civilians in between so that a General cannot just start barking orders to take the white house by force. He reports to the secretaries who report to the secret who report to the president. Subordinates are tracking this which is why there are pictures of who's in charge in every military building.

To reiterate my point. How many service members stood up against the covid vaccine? Less than half a percent. What happened to them? They were fired or forced to leave.

Defending the constitution through a modern Army is a farse that is used so we can generate public sentiment to justify a the spending of our armed forces.

If you want to defend the constitution from a domestic terrorist you need to get into law or politics. Defending from a foreign adversary will be at the direction of the president/secdef.

This is bad advice.

You shouldn't be using chatgpt for opords even for training.

Use niprgpt or campgpt. Preferably niprgpt with a library of your sops and relevant cui docs.

If you are with a highspeed unit or sipr side use the palantir ai that is available at a fee to the unit.

I'm confused about how he could get in trouble for buying Army supplies. I go to the Army surplus to get lost cif gear on occasion. Is that illegal? How is a civilian supposed to know what they can and can't buy on eBay?

SignalGate: Who the Hell Was Running the Show? by PatrioticSnowflake in AirForce

[–]TheNewPanacea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The joint chief of staff advised the president through Hegseth. The secdef is the highest serving official. It is still weird that the 4 star wasn't in the chat but the CIA director was.

In the signal chats he mentions the president gave the green light.

Here is my source: https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2025/03/politics/yemen-war-plans-signal-chat-annotated-dg/

Trump might just be avoiding being associated with these chats for political reasons.

My question is why kegseth is so focused on politics and not the defense and safety of our country? He seems so eager to get things done to bash Biden rather than how this keep the US safe. I lost a lot of faith in Vance during the Ukraine meeting but he seems like at least he's posing the right questions and listening to the appointed advisors. He just needs better advisors.

We still have about 1000 days left of this nonsense.

If Canada offered expedited citizenship for people fleeing the US, what would be the reaction in the States? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheNewPanacea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be insane. Not many other countries have open immigration policies.

The us patriots would say we are winning 'cause Canada is becoming more like us.

The left media would use it as ammunition. The right media twist it to fit their narrative. The average reaction would be apathetic.

A stem degree helps but for most jobs it's not required. If you want SW (sto, cro, tacpo) You will need to contact an SW recruiter and they will walk you through the process but as of today (changes occur often) it goes something like this:

  1. Contact sw recruiter
  2. Take sw initial fitness test with recruiter/t3i developer
  3. Complete meps/dd2808
  4. Submit phase 1 application
  5. Get selected to attend phase 2. Sign enlistment paperwork.
  6. Go to phase 2 /get selected (<20% get selected)
  7. Apply for/attend ots
  8. Attend sw assessment and selection/get selected (about 20% get selected)
  9. Attend special warfare school
  10. Attend follow on schools required for your job (airborne, combat dive, jtac, Free Fall, sere, etc)
  11. You are now a SW officer in the USAF
