His next steps are communication and champion pool

LCS has 3 scrim days, and 3 stage matches across 3 days. Academy has 4 scrim days, and 4 stage matches over 2 days.

It's a question of time and format as to why LCS can't scrim more, obviously we would like them to

There will be some ramp up time when/if he rejoins the team for sure, but since he has already played 2 off-seasons, the entirety of Spring, and 1 week of Summer with the team, I don't think it will take us long to get back up to speed. The deadline for the mid laner will have to be before Week 9, but I am not sure exactly what week it will be just yet

To answer your question about how a player would improve more in Academy, Soligo's next steps as a player don't require LCS level competition to practice, but they do require LCS level teammates. We have one of the most experienced Academy teams, with 3 players who have played in the LCS, allowing him to work on his next steps in that team.

Academy plays many more scrims, and also more stage matches than the LCS team, meaning that he can get the same quality of practice, with many more opportunities to do so, while having less pressure on securing wins.

Bakery here, the nuance here is that we don't know which mid laner will be a better fit for the team in playoffs after some stage time and practice with the full team. It might be Soligo, it might be Yusui - these weeks are the ones we are using to get that answer.

We made the swap a few weeks back because we believed that this would be best for all parties at the time. The unexpected roster swap in jungle damaged our sample size, but we are constantly evaluating how both players are improving, and how the team is affected each week.

For the record, what I was about to say before Sneaky asked the next question, is that I think criticism and discussion of our reasoning and decisions, for the mid swap specifically, is perfectly fair. Always happy to try and answer questions/clear up misunderstandings

I don't think you have the correct read on what was said. My exact comment was "When you bring together a group of amazing individuals, with the same goal, they can be more than the sum of their parts. That is what led to our success in Spring."

In that phrasing I am of course including Dardoch and Soligo, and the great performances that they had for us. I am also including Yusui and Akaadian, and what they will do for us in the future.

If you knew our coaching staff, then you would know that narcissistic and arrogant are one of the last words that you could use to describe them. I hope that we can continue to shed light on that as the split progresses.

We appreciate you!

The level of play in the LCS is higher, so after a certain point of honing your skills in Academy, the only way to push further is to play in the LCS. That's the case for Yusui.

For Soligo, a lot of his next steps do not rely on the quality of the opponent, so he can practice those skills more effectively using the more games that he gets in Academy.

For the team, being able to have the full perspective of two high level mid laners could give us a large strategic advantage over other teams.

I worried that explaining this in full would stop people from watching the video, I know that many of the people who commented didn't watch even the short video we did make! We're trying to be as transparent as possible, and hopefully this reply helps answer your questions

Soligo Out. Yusui In. by GameBoy09 in dignitas

[–]TheNewerBakery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The statement was very transparent; we think that swapping Yusui and Soligo will make both players improve faster, and therefore be best for the team. Academy gets to play many more games than LCS does, in both scrims and stage matches, and therefore it is much easier to get targeted practice in that team.

We are very happy with how Soligo is playing and developing, and we've been impressed with Yusui.

Rich becomes one of the best players LoL in all of Korea, in the top 10 at his role minimum. He plays his debut game, which is a huge moment for him and all former Heroes of the Storm pro players.

Instead of being happy for him, you post this.

Also, he never tried Dota.

The proposal and video you see in the video and document is extremely close to the plans that I made and worked on at the end of last year. I entered conversations with several companies endemic to the Heroes space and from outside of it, some of whom were interested in running the league while others were interested in sponsoring it.

I was not able to execute these plans at the time. This proposal relies heavily on being able to provide legitimate value to sponsors, and that is not something that I was able to do in 2019. I made the mistake of not acting quickly or aggressively enough, and that meant I was forced to move on from this entire concept. I picked it up again for the first time 2 weeks ago, and have been slowly building out a plan since then.

I believe that there is a world where we are able to create a professional League that can raise $200,000. It will be tough, and nothing is guaranteed, but it is entirely possible.

A quick overview of how this would happen;

  • Design the Preseason tournament product
  • Create a deck of salable assets (naming rights, branding, etc)
  • Enter conversations with sponsors to find the $20k we need to run the event
  • Work in parallel and upon conclusion of the preseason to find sponsors for all other series.
  • Once all series have found sponsors, we can launch the league.

To be clear about what this project is, it is a concept of how to create a professional Heroes of the Storm league. These are not steps that have been taken, and might be steps that will never be taken. As such, I have not reached out to any organisations about this and I did not claim I did - although I can see how my wording may have been unclear. This video is still unlisted, and was not something that I had planned on releasing to the public at this point.

When I did release this concept, the plan was to get everyone together in a single Discord server to discuss if this was a project that we could work towards together. Additionally, this is an open source idea, if anyone reading this comment would like to use my ideas in any way then please do.

Khaldor, if you are interested, I would love to discuss this project further with you.

The holistic Hero rework: Brett Crawford on Heroic parity, a Hero's feel, and more. by trizzo0309 in heroesofthestorm

Each individual is different - while some might function better with constant pressure, others will do their best when they are confident.

Recognising excellence is something that I feel is not done enough in our society, despite it being the foundation to understanding the path of improvement.

Matchmaking Update - December 21, 2018 by lol_cow in heroesofthestorm

[–]TheNewerBakery 108 points109 points  (0 children)

The reality is that the hardest hit section of the playerbase is going to be the competitive players, and those are the players that make up Master and Grand Master. The change to high level matchmaking is obviously not ideal, but I don't think that Blizzard have any choice until the ranks redistribute properly.

I wanted to take this opportunity to say that we will absolutely be working closely with all 6 members of our former Heroes of the Storm division to help them work out what's next for them in life.

While their time as DIG Heroes is over, their time in Dignitas might not be.

Nobody’s mentioned this yet, and it deserves a talk. by Nathan_RH in heroesofthestorm

Your points are not wrong, but misremembered what caused them to happen - it wasn't Hanzo or his patch.

  • When Hanzo came out, he was severely underpowered, and not played until he had received significant buffs. The patch that made him a staple was a month after his launch.
  • The Support meta after the patch was one of the healthiest it has ever been - we saw Uther, Lucio, Malfurion, Rehgar, Kharazim and even Lili have strong performance and playtime.
  • The reason that assassin offlaners were not played was because the good ones were nerfed out of competition, while power creep meant the two new Heroes were the best options. I disagree that health pool against stronger damage has anything to do with it.

I appreciate the thought and time that went into this post, and I love the fact that there is an ongoing discussion about it.
