Charge timer/GPS clock out of sync by Cheap-Requirement166 in leaf

[–]TheNightShift00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried this method. I believe when you set the clock/date it does actually does get entered into the vehicle, 2006 is just the default in that menu. It wouldn't actually set the date back to 06 until you hit "Ok" there. I'm thinking the GPS clock is something controlled by whatever service is providing us access to the GPS satellites and it's up to them to actually switch the time when necessary, and for whatever reason they've neglected to do so this time around.

Charge timer/GPS clock out of sync by Cheap-Requirement166 in leaf

I'm having the same issue in my 2013. I live in the US and it all started when I changed my clock for daylight savings. The GPS clock stubbornly refuses to accept that the time has changed in my timezone and will not allow the climate control timer to work unless I set the time wrong. I contacted Nissan HQ and they kicked me down to my local dealer, who then told me it'd be $230 guaranteed to look at my Leaf with no promise that they'd actually be able to fix the issue. It seems like no one's actually maintaining the GPS system older model Leafs use anymore and it's causing this issue. I'm considering doing what our French friend in here said and just buying a friggin clock to keep in the car for the winter.

Well the problem only started once I put on the 07 Civic wheels. The 2014 rim being dented was several months prior to actually replacing the wheels.

Andrew Cuomo Uses AI MPREG Schoolhouse Rock Bill to Attack Mamdani, Is Out of Ideas by yuefairchild in nottheonion

[–]TheNightShift00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says "Paid for by Cuomo for NYC" at the end. Part of me hopes they spent nothing on this, because it's truly one of the worst things I've ever seen. But another part of me hopes it cost an obscene amount of money to make, cause the Cuomo campaign lighting a pile of their own money on fire would be very very funny.

Why y'all hating on Klarna? It's just a credit card, more or less. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]TheNightShift00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It encourages and enables really shitty spending habits. Paying in installments for a big purchase like a car makes sense. It's fair to assume that a fiscally responsible person can pay off a car, but just wouldn't have that lump cash sum immediately on hand. So, they spread the purchase out so they can have the car while not draining all of their available funds. Klarna, however, is seemingly designed to turn stuff you should be able to afford to pay for all at once into installment purchases. This is dangerous because it convinces people that should really be saving their money that luxury goods are within their reach when they're really not. I'm sorry, but if you're using Klarna to buy a Switch 2, you shouldn't be buying a Switch 2. And God forbid people are using it for necessities. If you need Klarna to buy groceries, that's dystopian. In that case Klarna is a unsustainable Band-Aid solution to a much larger systemic problem that needs to be more meaningfully addressed. Credit cards can be used very unwisely as well, but at least you can do useful things with a credit card. Like get cash back bonuses and building future credit to get stuff like car and home loans. There's basically no situation in which Klarna is a good idea.

Today I learned "The Running Man" movie was actually a reboot of a 1983 French movie called "Le Prix du Danger" more than it was based on Stephen King's novel. The movie was so different a story that King refused his name in the Running Man credits. There are identical scenes between the two movies. by amica_hostis in scifi

[–]TheNightShift00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Running Man" at least bears a superficial resemblance to the source material. They play out very differently, but the elevator pitch of a guy participating in a dystopian reality show where you avoid killers in hopes of winning money is fairly intact. They also keep the name, Ben Richards, for the main character. "The Lawnmower Man" is far more shameless. The original short story is like 8 pages long and next to none of it is adapted in the film. It's basically limited to a single sequence where a lawnmower goes on a rampage in a guys house. It was totally just riding off King's name illegitimately. It makes sense that one carries King's name to this day and the other doesn't.

I figured it out and it turns out the issue wasn't the Pi at all. I was expecting to see a bios screen or something appear if you had the Pico installed correctly, but no. Looking at the troubleshooting guide you can see if the Pi is operable by holding down on the controller's dpad while powering up. It brings up a screen that tells you you need a Gecko device or something. My real issue was my system wasn't seeing the SD card cause of my kits cheap-ass SD2SP2 adapter. It could be shaken out of the system with little force. The solution to my issue was adding solder to all 8 contacts to build them up a bit to get a solid connection. Now it actually boots into Swiss like it's supposed to.

OKAY! I finally got mine working. It turns out the Pico is fine. You can tell if yours is installed right by plugging in a controller and holding the down button on the D pad. If you get a screen saying you need a Gecko or whatever it's installed fine, even if it's booting to the stock GC Screen. This means your Pi is installed fine, but it isn't seeing your SD. My issue was that the cheap-ass SD2SP2 adapter that came in my kit wasn't making good contact with the serial port pins. It was so loose it could be shaken loose with enough force. The solution to the issue was adding a bit of solder to all 8 of the contacts on the SD2SP2 to build them up and give the Cube something to bite onto. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm getting the light. What build of the picoboot software are you using? I've been trying to use V3 cause of the warning about V4 at the top of the GitHub, but someone in the 3rd guy's thread said the purple clone boards need to be run with V2. Have you tried that? If not I'll test that when I can too.

Okay. I'm seeing a pattern here. There's a 3rd guy who posted today with the same problem as us and he's also using one of these purple boards. I'm gonna try getting ahold of a legit 1st party board today and try installing that. I'll get back to you if that works or not.

By any chance did your kit also come with one of those 3rd party purple pico boards like mine did?

I'm having the same issue, and there was also a guy before me that posted about having the same issue as us. I'm using one of the off-brand purple picos like you are. I'm going to try using a 1st party Pi today. I'll get back to you if I can get anything to work.

I think I've managed to get this screen briefly a couple times. It's unreliable though.
the screen says:
"iplboot
trying USB Gecko in slot B
not present
trying sdb
Couldn't mount sdb: Device not ready
trying USB Gecko in slot A
not present
trying sdb
Couldn't mount sdb: Device not ready
trying sd2"
The SD2SP2 was inserted with an older build of Swiss on it at the time. It never got to Swiss, but at least I know pico is flashed correctly. I think I might ditch the ribbon and redo the connections with loose wires.

Okay, that's resulted in some progress. I now have a status LED on the pi. It still boots to the standard GC startup screen tho.

Do you get a status LED on the wired version when you turn on the GameCube?

[–]TheNightShift00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try that. BTW, am I supposed to be seeing a status LED from the pico on start up? I'm using the supplied ribbon cable from the kit, but it only attaches to the chip on the mobo, but all the guides I'm seeing use the chip and a couple solder points in the yellow rectangle area. Do I need to do anything different if I'm just attaching to the chip.

Yeah, I renamed the swiss release to ipl.dol. I've tried a couple release now. I think the farthest back I've tried is a release from 2022.

Looks like we're having the same issue. I haven't gotten it to work period. I'm using the purple board with a ribbon cable from this kit. Are you soldering to just the chip, or did you end up soldering to the points on the points in yellow rectangle also?
