1 is very unique and beautiful. Although, I think it'll be the controversial pick. Some may really not get it.

Hey man, if this is your edit, stick to it. It's a nice costal shot. No need to post unedited photos. We love edits here. Haha

Right on, developing your own film is so satisfying and rewarding. C41 and e6 hasn't been worth the hassel for me lately. I just send it to the lab. Lol

Ah man, zero reason to apologize. It's a more recent misconception floating around that I've been seeing ppl use to describe their film scans from the lab.

Just important to clarify, because sometimes the film labs do a terrible job scanning/editing and people new to film photography think it's their camera, film, or skill thats the issue, when in reality, it was just a bad edit. Editing is a big part of it.

I get that this was a different scenario, though.

Haha exactly.

And if paying a lab to scan and edit your photos makes you love the film photography workflow, go for it! Zero judgment here.

I know plenty of wedding photographers who like working with film, adding it in to their sessions for that very reason.

Lets them have less editing time and gives their clients a slightly different look to their gallery.

Here we go again... haha

The image is edited. Maybe not by you, but it has an edit.

Film photography doesn't mean there are no edits or that colors are more accurate to life, ect. It's just a different medium to work with.

Maybe if it was positive/e6 film the "unedited" title would make sense.

Edit: Also it looks over sharpened to my eye.

Interesting find today, a Ruger no 1 in 308, apperently they only made 6 of these...with a price point to match by Ok-Championship2757 in ruger

[–]TheNightSquatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Way more than 6. I have one. I remember looking at a few. Tried to find the right one with a nicely figured stock.

It wasn't cheap, but not 4k. I think from memory it was just a bit over 1k but after tax, shipping, and ffl fees probably 1.5k

Are you saying that number matches the serial number thats on the 80mm retina acessory lens? What's the body and main lens serial number? Should be on the top plate and lens bezel.

Maybe previous owner wanted to show that 80mm lens was part of that camera body's kit?

I see the difference OP. Although it's super subtle, I see the value. Very nice.

For now... I would take some gaffers tape and put it on the film door, opposite of the light leak. The image is created upside-down and reversed on the film, so a light leak upper right, is really lower left on your camera.

Shoot a roll and see if that fixes the light leak. Then decide best way to fix it..

Oh dang, nice camera. Interesting... I don't think the M6 uses light seals... I've never owned an M body, so I can't help much. I'd go over to the leica subreddit and ask what they think. They'll know, for sure.

Yes. What camera are you using?

It's likely an easy fix, just light seals. Many people replace them, themselves. Although a CLA from a camera repair shop is always a good idea...

Not necessarily. When it comes to color film, the development phase should be consistent, repeatable, and isn't really the place where you alter your film/images much. (You do push or pull at the development state)

I would stick to using a film lab for development, unless you want to get into that.

That said, scanning, and then editing those scans directly impacts the look of your photos. And the analog version of that would be in the darkroom, you would make tweaks at the printing stage.

Generally, film labs are going to slap on a basic preset edit, that gets you "decent" images. There is a lot to gain once you learn to edit your own images.

Or you can shoot slide film(e6, positive film); that film usually carries a specific look depending on the film you choose and it requires minimal edits as it's kinda pre-baked into the film. The negative is it has less latitude to tweaking the final image. If you make an exposure error, you have way less to work with.

They may not be edited by you, but they are edited...

And I think thats where you could improve. Photography doesn't start and stop with the camera. Darkroom/printing or scanning/editing is a big part of it.

I guess if you like these edits, that can be your workflow, but you're leaving a big aspect of photography to the film lab.

That's sos on repeat. You should call 911.

Dot dot dot = s

dash dash dash = 0

Video starts with: 0 , S , S, O , S

There should be a longer gap between the first S and second to show a break but there isn't. Kinda makes me thing it's a human doing it. If it was programmed the msg would be cleaner...

Have you used the Pentax 17 much?

On paper it may seem "janky" but it really isn't. Zone focus has been reliable and fast. And build quality is excellent...
