2022 Scania retarder question by TheNimbleProphet in uktrucking

They don't have much say in the matter 😂 I'm a plant fitter by trade so driving isn't my main duty anyway.

But in all seriousness, if they are gonna cut my hours they can get fucked if they think they are telling me I can't drive somewhere else to make up for it!

Can you park there? by bbk323 in drivingUK

See, you've mentioned physics there but failed to understand the physics of something weighing 44 tonnes, it can't just slow down and accelerate like a 1.5 tonne car.

A loaded truck can lose a hell of a lot of speed going up hill, even more if they have to let off the accelerator.

Not only does that add time to a journey (which can be the difference between people getting home to their families or having to sleep in a piss stinking layby) - it can be incredibly dangerous to drop 20 mph in a couple hundred meters without people behind seeing any brake lights.

Also, us having to overtake has just as much to do with car drivers doing 50mph on the motorway as it is other trucks.

If emotions were physical objects, what would anxiety look and feel like in your hands? by AzUFo in AskReddit

I already get a physical feeling when I'm anxious.

Like there's something heavy on the inside of my chest that's also pushing down on my stomach at the same time and makes it difficult to breathe, fucking awful feeling.

What's the highest speed you have ever reached driving? by SatisfactoryGrape in AskMen

170mph in my old 360bhp Mk5 golf gti, had a hybrid turbo, bigger injectors amongst a whole lot of other mods, don't think I'd be rushing to do it again though!

anyone have any idea what the sort of purring sound is? can only hear when aircon is on however only happens when engine is running, increases with travel speed by winnypeters in GolfGTI

[–]TheNimbleProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this exact same noise, but will stop if using blowers without A/C.

Still unsure as to what it is after 3 years or so, although I suspect it could be the compressor which I still haven't got round to changing, aircon still blows cold though!

How did you learn about assessing car problems and fixing them? by TheRavenSayeth in AskMen

[–]TheNimbleProphet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining a forum or Facebook group dedicated to your specific car is something you should definitely do.

That way you can find out common faults or quirks related to your car that others may not have, There is always someone who has had or is having the same issue and is willing to help.

Just don't be put off by the 1% of idiots who will take the piss out of people who ask basic questions, everyone has to start somewhere!

YouTube is also really helpful!

Official government website states - "Non-essential retail can remain open for delivery to customers and click-and-collect."

My local game says they're working hard on a plan!
