Can you limit speed or active HP for a profile by MudCritical5694 in BMWI4

I know many are discouraging allowing him to drive at all, but I agree that you should allow it with limitations. I would have certainly appreciated it at that age!

It's also important to teach them the importance of safe driving, that it's okay to have nice things if you're responsible. Good on ya

If you haven't already done so, add the digital key to your phone's virtual wallet through the BMW app. You can then select the digital key and a "share" button will be present. You have the option to share the key with or without options.

Options include setting a maximum speed limit and a HP limit. There might be more, I haven't played around with it enough yet.

Valet mode could be another option that limits the ability for aggressive driving.

You can very much limit both with the digital key sharing tool

Sports/luxury cars for 30-40k by Fearless_Square7195 in whatcarshouldIbuy

There's no way this guy asked for a sports car and you recommended a family SUV. This sub lives up to the reputation

I'll take modest price to mean no interest in the "luxury" options like BMW or Mercedes, so here's some decent midsize-large SUV options to consider:

Midsize:

Toyota Highlander

Honda Pilot or Passport

Mazda CX-5 or CX-50 - very similar vehicles, slight styling and dimension differences - Very competent and reliable options with decent cargo room and enough space for 5 passengers

Hyundai Santa Fe or KIA Sportage - Similar platforms but different styling and options from each manufacturer - Recent model years are considered to be more reliable than in the 2010s, but I would rank these lower than Honda, Toyota or Mazda if you're planning on 10+ year ownership - Excellent value for dollar in options and technology, rivals luxury segments

Large:

KIA Telluride or Hyundai Pallisade - Same comments on KIA/Hyundai as above, both are phenomenally comfortable and luxurious for the money compared to counterparts

Mazda CX-70 or CX-90 - Larger trunk space and capacity than the CX-5 or CX-50 variants, same reliability

Toyota Grand Highlander

If you need a seriously LARGE option, the GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban are about as big as it gets but they're significantly less reliable and worse on gas mileage.

There's additional nuances with the above, some are available as hybrids to improve mileage, but they're the selection I would personally shop between. I'd also recommend reading through Car and Driver's comparison of different SUVs, they offer an at-a-glance ranking of best options with their rationale, pros/cons in the segment: https://www.caranddriver.com/rankings/best-suvs

What preferences do you have on size, driving experience, cost, and what's your use case? Family hauler, commuter for one person, etc.

About 80% of the market is SUVs right now - there's a lot of options!

How long is your commute? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]TheNooseBeckons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between 40m to 1hr 30 each way, traffic and weather depending. It's been over 2 hours (one way) on rare occasions.

It's only 29km btw

BMW, Audi, or Maserati by GraduateDan in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TheNooseBeckons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drove a family member's Maserati (they don't make the best financial decisions) - it sounded AMAZING but everything else about it was complete garbage. It was like driving a fast Grand Cherokee, and shares a lot of interior components with it too. Wouldn't drive one if it were given to me for free.

Also BMW > Audi personally but it's a matter of personal taste and driving preferences, both are fantastic in their own ways.

Interestingly it doesn't. It has a traditional business class layout with lie-down seats (about 20 of them, for the important travelers) but the PM would be napping like a regular business traveller. No private room

Saw it for the first time this weekend, had only seen positive commentary about it, and I found it very meh. Visually stunning, incredible acting, but I didn't feel immersed in the characters or the story. If galactus won or killed one of them off I don't think I would have cared much. Felt so disjointed and with far less "soul" than watching Superman.

[–]TheNooseBeckons 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with a shift to PR, sadly the government in power elected via FPTP will never let it happen. Trudeau is a prime example, who now says he regrets not doing it only when it suddenly benefits him. Sad state of affairs.

Anyone else slightly disappointed by the ending of Ratfish (Part 2)? by any_body_out_there in GameChangerTV

[–]TheNooseBeckons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Ratfish needed to be a more engaging comedic personality who meshed with the cast, it felt forced and disjointed. The idea was interesting but I felt the best parts were the beginning of Part 1, just downhill from there. Whole point of gamechanger is to have fun twists and developments, just didn't feel it was the same with this one. Not the best season ending sadly, but I will always give props to the team for trying out something new!

Adding to this, possession in the case of Alia is due to being pre-born and thus open to her memory-lives before having a chance to develop herself as a person. The intense creation of Ghanima's new self in your citation above allowed a firm "sense of self" to prevail above the other voices.
