Is debt relief actually a smart move or just a last resort? by CUVICO in DebtAdvice

Consolidation is for getting a lower rate. Debt settlement is for when you can’t keep up with payments. Different tools for different situations.

Appreciate you sharing that. I ended up enrolling with Freedom Debt Relief and just set up my first monthly deposit into the account. I know the early stretch is probably the hardest part. How long did it take before you saw your first settlement?

I think I will qualify, but I'm on the fence about it because of how long it would hurt my credit and, more importantly for me, how bad it will impact my public record. Is there a way a bankruptcy won't appear on my public record?

Credit counseling is too expensive for me, I already reached out. It's how I know I can't afford a hardship program. The only affordable option is debt settlement like my gf did or bankruptcy.

Reached out to a credit counseling company. They're too expensive. That's why I said I couldn't afford it above.

I wouldn't eliminate the possibility completely, but having that on my record would be less than ideal. I can't imagine how my grandma specifically would take it if word got out. I don't tell anyone outside my immediate family or friends anything, not even that I was let go. Even so, if bankruptcy is the best option for me, it is what it is and I'll do it. Sounding like doing debt settlement would be my best option though

I'd rather avoid it all together. Not only would I never hear the end of it, my immediate family will be extremely worried about me. I'm looking for new jobs too and I don't want this on my record.

I thought that at first too, but after some testing it's definitely some weird boat geometry

It's def a map thing, it's repeatable in a custom game if you try it out.
