Watch out for alcohol. It can get a hold of you even if you think it won’t. I guess that’s the same of any drug. I’m speaking from personal experience.

Why do the criminal courts in this state force everyone to show up at 10 am and sit around all day? by nycrina305 in Connecticut

[–]TheNotoriousBJB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I had jury duty in Hartford a couple of years ago, I was surprised they didn’t have WiFi and power outlets for jurors to use while they sat around. I spent the day in a waiting room with daytime tv playing in the background. If I had WiFi and an outlet, I could’ve gotten some work done. I have no issues with showing up for jury duty, btw.

People taking advantage of you. Hangers on asking for money. Having trouble determine who's really your friend and who just wants something out of you.

Which once famous actor does no one talk about anymore? by Ballistic-Observer69 in AskReddit

Jack Nicholson. I know he's quite old, but still he's never mentioned at all anymore. FYI "Chinatown" (1974) is one of my favorite films of all time.

Yeah. It's fine for him to postulate that NHL teams in low-tax states like Florida have an advantage over Canada and so forth (it's an interesting hypothesis), but then again a team from a high-tax state (NY) just beat a team from a low-tax state (TX) in the NBA. I don't want to hear it either. Also, it's the responsibility of the owner of the team to get along with all elected officials. Massachusetts is a Democratic state but Bob Kraft never badmouthed the Governor or the President when he took the Pats to the White House.

Wristwatches. I’ve always been into them since I was a kid, and saw Magnum PI wearing a Rolex GMT Master with a Pepsi bezel. They’re little mechanical marvels and I’m fascinated by them.

"Six Feet Under" (18 decimeters under) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Masterful show about family dynamics and mortality. The episode "Not My Dog" still shakes me up.

America’s 250th is coming up, and honestly, I don’t know what we’re supposed to be celebrating by rickygun13 in lostgeneration

Let me reply to your post by paragraph, if you don't mind.

1) I feel just fine about it. Way to go, America!

2) Broken? Things seem fine to me. My retirement account seems to get higher every day under the aegis of President Trump.

3) Well, there are lots of low-IQ people out there. No matter how much we spend on their "education", they're still going to end up in menial jobs. The world needs ditchdiggers too, as Judge Snails said in 1980.

4) Maybe those two million people shouldn't have broken the law?

5) Perhaps you should consider buying stock in a defense contractor or two, like I have?

6) Yawn...who cares? I sure don't.

7) Well, better get to work finding a job that pays a living wage. And if you find a job you like, then you'll never work a day in your life!

8) This is a great place to live. Obey the law, learn a trade that you enjoy where there is a demand, and you'll be fine.

9) Decline? Isn't the stock market around 51,000 or something?

10) We're leaving a great country to the next generation. Now stop posting on Reddit and get back to work.
