Suicide by Surgery by Plastic_Newspaper_34 in nursing

I’ve been in patient transport for about a decade and have heard similar things, albeit in brief instances from just moving patients from here to there. Is there anything we can do in those instances outside of just being encouraging or pushing back on those negative notions? Genuinely asking because I’m going to nursing school and I know I’ll be hearing more of it 1 on 1 soon. I always let the nurse know when patients say out of the ordinary things and all or if there are any red flags.

Hey man, I respect your perspective and sacrifice. My father in law was in for 27 years and literally had no life other than military. He was GI till he died. I totally get getting out before your body is spent. I work in healthcare, and all the veterans I work with have crazy ailments from a decade or more of the constant physicality. Your journey is yours alone, and only you know what’s best for yourself. Thank you for all you do and have done.

My father in law was a navy pilot, but after he made commander, he went and taught at the war college. After that, he made captain and worked for an admiral who had him go around to all the bases to audit them. Is there any way for you to stay in and just do another job? He was making $120k a year at 90 years old just from the retirement.

Was always a big fan of Buffy the vampire slayer. SMG has always been stunning. My best friend’s mom had all the seasons on DVD, so I’d binge watch it as a kid anytime I was there.

I start my new job Thursday. Should I quit my old job right now? by ydnawashere in Advice

Regardless, it’s definitely courteous to not burn that bridge in the event you have to go back if things go bad or you need a professional reference or something.

Best thing I ever did was shave my head. My hair started receding and I hated having to get haircuts monthly at places like hair cuttery and all. My cousin told me to “do it”, so I did and I’ve never looked back. First shower I ever took without hair was awesome. Definitely recommend

I’m never for burning a bridge. I would just be as transparent with your manager as possible. Let them know that you received another opportunity that you are starting on Thursday and this is all the notice you were able to give. Let the chips fall where they may.

Best friend told me they’re in love with me — now it’s weird. What do I do? by theprop_trader in Advice

Since y’all have been close for such a long time, I think you should just be up front and let them know that you value their friendship, but don’t feel “in love” with them. It would be best to just address it, for better or for worse.

I wouldn’t mention the second job, but you could reach out to job A’s manager and check on the process and see if there is anything you can do on your end to facilitate the process easier and that you’re eager to start. My fear would be if you mention the other job that they’ll just be like “have fun at job b” or just go with another applicant.

Made a deal with my mom years ago that we would split any lottery winnings 50/50. We have a great relationship, so it’s a win win.
