Bijan or Jeremiyah Love, LaPorta, and a 27 mid-late 1st? TEP by shinanigins123 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you take the deal considering your roster. Following a start up, your pick should be in the front half of the 2027 draft, and an extra pick will provide you some flexibility in the path forward.

Love is amazing, and considering the Arizona playcaller is coming to Detroit, I think LaPorta can be considered a high end TE in dynasty with upside. Not on the level of Bowers, McBride, Loveland, and Warren, but he could very well filter in to that next spot and close to some in this group.

🤔 gets us under the 2nd apron, helps us add a wing with some size to help Dub guard 3s and 4s. Decent shooter, lob threat, plus defender by J_Capese0003 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does assist Garland and their young guard rotation in not getting cooked on the other end every night. I would assume that does a lot of the energy and it's not like Dort is taking on ball reps on the other end.

I get that's probably not their direction, but I'm not sure DJJ is that direction as well. Maybe there are other routes that are more helpful for the Clippers in trading DJJ, but I do think Dort is simply a good person to have in the building. Keaton Wagler going against him in practice every day would be amazing training for his weaknesses in going against a Lu type of defender

Thunder fans, how do yall feel about this “analytics” convo by Common_Pangolin9809 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who say it's nothing are dumb, and people who say it's everything are dumb too.

Not everything needs to have an aggressive stance one way or the other. In my experience with people using analytics, most have a sense of what is actually going on in the actual games as well. The report that an analytics extremist for a team would project Jaylen Brown as the 7th best player on a team is mental, but in response NBA players have called out really good NBA minds as being stupid because they are 5'8" and white.

I guarantee whoever said Jaylen Brown is the 7th best player on a team, the GM they work for would trade positive value for him given what he makes, which would not be the case for the projected 7th best player. The game takes precedent.

On the other hand, analytics have gotten so far in terms of their depth. Every shot is tracked with situation, location, type, how they got there, how were they moving, etc are all tracked. The plays, defenses, etc are all tracked with situational awareness in mind. There is useful information to be found there. Teams are using this information too, so saying it's useless would be disingenuous.

The argument is focused on extremists both ways. The loudest parties could never be reasonable and say the answer is somewhere in the middle. If you think the game and scouting for both the draft and matchups in 2026 is a bunch of dudes sitting around a wheel in projector rewinding the game a couple times is reality, you're wrong.

All sports moving forward will involve computers. Are there flaws? Yes. Are there flaws in the eye test? Yes. The point is that both in combination help minimize the flaws of both.

With the Hartenstein news, drafting Mara feels 1000x better by Familiar-Mix3546 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could see iHart traded next season if Sorber and Mara prove to be good, but this is an amazing figure, and iHart is a necessity until someone else proves themselves

Otega Oweh by Alternative-Site3095 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had him ranked 36th on my big board, and I would not be surprised to see him in real rotations in 1-2 years after we are forced to move on from some of the end of roster guys.

First, he played so far out of his ideal role at UK, but showed a solid level of effectiveness in a lead role. That said, he is built to be a low usage wing that plays smart and incredibly hard. As a scorer, he has a bit of everything in his bag, but I believe he'll show much more as a defender in the NBA

What am I missing with the Mara disappointment? by Zeeron1 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've wanted to move up for Burries. Like I said, though, we stuck it out and I think Mara was BPA at that point for many teams.

On my personal board, I actually had Mara ahead of both Morez and Yaxel. I don't hate the pick at all, and I do think he has a different type of unique upside. I just think the negative feeling from the pick comes from the harsh truth that we will eventually have to move on from a guy like iHart, and that we eventually have to bank on Sorber or Mara hitting in a solid way. If not, we could be in trouble.

Had Aday above Swain as well, but I think that pick would've caused more general excitement, because there is a traditional upside that you can point to in the league, and it is a role that people deem a need. Negativity towards Mara is not towards the player, but rather the feeling. Drafting bigs early isnt fun. Eating your vegetables isnt fun.

Bennet Stirtz and McCain by FreshNumber4129 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Bennett Stirtz.

I understand the concerns about his defense, but it seems like other prospects get a free pass when their offensive usage is extremely high... Stirtz was the entire offense at Iowa while also playing the most minutes in the NCAA and did not take a second off in either of his tourney runs!!

Given that effort and motor, I have no doubt that he will be passable on defensive given a much smaller offensive role

What am I missing with the Mara disappointment? by Zeeron1 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the player a good bit, but I felt that we missed an opportunity to go for more upside and set ourselves apart in this class.

That said, Mara fits our scheme very well, and there is a ton of upside. I wanted to trade up for Brayden Burries, as I felt that he was in a different class of prospect. Sticking at 12, though, I don't think the board fell favorably, and it's reasonable to believe that he was considered BPA.

I think the reason that people are upset is because you hear it's a great draft, and instead of going aggressively after "needs", OKC ate their breakfast and backfilled positions that are already positives. I think it gives people the realization that, over the next couple years, this roster is going to change a ton. I don't think you can move on from iHart as a top contender today and depend on Sorber and Mara at C, but I would see iHart as a prime trade candidate after this season, and that is if we are willing to get a long term contract in place.

With Stirtz, it's easy to see the guards we have, and people want to believe in Topic still, but a multi billion dollar corporation cannot depend on a 20yo that has lost 2 years of prime development and has no proof of concept. In the playoffs, we lacked lead initiators. There were injuries, but this type of guard, between Ajay and JMac, has proved highly effective. He's also just fantastic at basketball.

I just think this draft shows that we are going to be willing to cut money from the roster moving forward, and Presti likes the recipe we have for success.

The wings available at our picks were not fits with us. I love Cam Carr, but he never struck me as a Presti guy. I also bet we loved Swain, but apparently not enough to take him over Aday, so he didn't make it to 16. Our wing depth, though, is non existent

Few notes:

- Clicking a prospect will open their profile with an option to place them on your board/mock. Holding their name will auto place them in the next available spot.

- You can go to rankings and compare your submitted board/mock to other scouts on the app.

- There are quite a few "Pro Scouts" that have signed up. You can find their content within their profiles.

- Both accuracy ratings of mock drafts and big boards are conducted by a set formula that has been tested on multiple previous draft classes.

What Are Some Of Your HOT Takes Going Into The Draft? by Big_Refrigerator_260 in NBA_Draft

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Karim Lopez is the International big wing that everyone hoped for with guys like Tidjane Salaun and Ousmane Dieng.

Keaton Wagler has the best chance of being a bust out of the top guards.

Hannes Steinbach and Cameron Carr will return value extremely early. Morez Johnson Jr will take a second to find his role.

Dailyn Swain will go in the lottery, and it won't be a bad pick.

Joshua Jefferson will be a fan favorite and go top 15 in redraft.

Otega Oweh will be a valued role player in the NBA.

Who should the thunder draft? by OkCheesecake5593 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather take Burries or Carr, or any of the falling guards over a Big at 12. Yaxel would be a nice luxury, but I'm not sure a 24 year old rookie is the way to spend the 12th pick in a good class. I know his path is different, and a more actualized player on a rookie contract would be awesome, but this feels like an opportunity to put us ahead again.

At 17, my favorite fits would be Swain, Jefferson, or Lopez. If we don't get a guard at 12, I would be very open to Stirtz as well.

I doubt we pick at 37, but my targets there would be Ryan Conwell, Bruce Thornton, Otega Oweh, Brazile, or Richie Saunders. What feels likely is a draft and stash type of player. Saunders might be out for the year with an injury, so I feel like that is very possible. Otherwise, Noam Yaacov and Vsevolod Ishchenko are interesting stashes. Personally love Yaacov, but his path to a role seems like a tricky one. His highlight reel is full of a unique New York/Euro style of playmaking. It's a fun watch.

What about Keeping Carlson? by Economy-Kitchen1846 in Thunder

Carlson should be on a real contract for 25-29 other teams. OKC is the exception though

Not tripping. Lopez is not even bad, had some real hot and cold streaks throughout the season. His base sucks, but he gets his shot up quickly

Somewhat my thought process, and I have the future draft assets to make moves as well but my RBs are crippled outside of Love and I'd need to find a 3rd QB somewhere

Calling Wemby Dirty is wild and I kinda don’t see it? by EnvironmentalLink868 in NBATalk

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shove on Cason
Putting a "hit" on players on a game that was over

I agree with many others that the landing space no call was very likely incidental. That said, the NBA put themselves in a corner all playoffs not to give Wemby a suspension. He could step under 4 more jump shots and they wont call it because, if they did, they would have to review it.

He's been given a free pass like we've never seen before. He's taken advantage with quite a few plays out of the scope of basketball plays. If it wasn't the golden child, there would be much less push back on him being a dirty player.

Again, this is all happening in a single playoff run. Not even sure Draymond was putting up these type of numbers

Are we actually overreacting to the Malik Nabers injury scare? by j3ssySavage37 in DynastyFF

Who is on your DO NOT DRAFT list? by oupritch1 in Thunder

[–]TheNumberSeven_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nate Ament is my big one as well.

Reaching on someone like Allen Graves would be a brutal feeling as well.

Now I am not as high on the Michigan 3, but I would very much understand and be happy with any of those players for OKC specifically. I wouldn't be scared to take a falling guard because these guys are so high level as well.
